Covid- 19: New Cases Lead To Additional Closures Of Schools In Norwalk
As a result of confirmed COVID cases and the number of staff members quarantined, additional public schools in Norwalk are switching to full remote learning effective immediately.
Ponus Ridge Middle School and Silvermine Dual Language Magnet School (all students, including grades 4 & 5 at the annex), in Norwalk, will transition to full remote learning beginning on Wednesday, Dec. 9, and will return on January 4, 2021, school officials said.
Jefferson Elementary and Fox Run Elementary will remain on full remote learning, returning to in-person learning on Monday, Dec. 21.

Mother, Daughter Attack Woman Eating Pretzels In SoNo, Police Say
A mother and daughter were arrested in connection with an incident at a Fairfield County mall in which they allegedly beat another woman.
The incident took place around 4:30 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 6, at the SoNo Collection in Norwalk, said Norwalk Police Lt. Jared Zwickler.
According to police, officers were dispatched to the mall on a report of a disturbance complaint.
During the course of the investigation, officers learned that Jalissa Velazquez, 18, and her mother, Jessica Fuentes, 39, both of Norwalk were involved in the altercation.

Man Causes More Than $3K In Damage During Long Island Burglary
Police are searching for a man who allegedly broke into a Long Island business and ended up causing more than $3,000 in damage.
The incident took place around 1:39 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 6, at the Enterprise Rental Car located at 397 W. Jericho Turnpike in Mineola, said the Nassau County Police.
According to detectives, the unknown subject broke the glass on the front door of the business and entered the building, and rummaged through the office.
There was no cash. However, the damage to the door is approximately $3,000, police said.
