Man Causes More Than $3K In Damage During Long Island Burglary Police are searching for a man who allegedly broke into a Long Island business and ended up causing more than $3,000 in damage. The incident took place around 1:39 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 6, at the Enterprise Rental Car located at 397 W. Jericho Turnpike in Mineola, said the Nassau County Police. There have been reports of household pets taken in the Cove Road area of the city when they are unattended outdoors.  "We are advising EXTREME caution with this animal," the Stamford Police Department said. Laverne Thomas, 52, of Bay Shore, was arrested by Milford Police on Monday, Nov. 16, on an active warrant for the event which took place in Nov. 2017, said the Milford Police. Thomas is accused of fraudulently signing and cashing a check in the amount of $995 from a checking account that was not hers.
