State Seeks $70M In Damages From Pseg Long Island For Tropical Storm Isaias Response Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo announced the Long Island Power Authority has filed legal action against PSEG Long Island for breach of contract and its performance in response to Tropical Storm Isaias. The complaint seeks $70 million in damages for PSEG Long Island's failure to adequately oversee outage management and communications systems from the Tuesday, Aug. 4 storm that affected more than 900,000 customers, the Governor's Office said. Large House Fire In Fairfield County Has Closed Roadway A large house fire in Fairfield County has closed a busy roadway in the area. The Monroe Fire Department was called to the scene of the fire around 10:24, Wednesday, Dec. 9, at 138 Hattertown Road in Monroe. First arriving units found the home fully engulfed in flames, said Lt. Stephen Corrone, of the Monroe Police Department. In order to allow for emergency vehicles, Hattertown Road is currently closed in the area, he added. A detour has been set-up to accommodate residents. Police: Man Nabbed For Threatening Stamford Shoppers Had Gas Canisters, Ax, Hatchet In Vehicle This story has been updated. A man who was arrested last weekend in Stamford for threatening to hurt people at the Newfield Green Shopping Center was in a vehicle found by Bridgeport Police packed with cans of gasoline after officers were sent to check out a heavy odor of gasoline. Renowned 'New Yorker' Cartoonist Faces Child Porn Charge In Hudson Valley A cartoonist famous for his work in the "New Yorker," has been arrested in the Hudson Valley for alleged possession of a sexual performance by a child. Dutchess County resident Daniel (Danny) P. Shanahan, 64, of Rhinebeck, was arrested by New York State Police on Wednesday, Dec. 9, and charged with possession of a sexual performance by a child, said Trooper AJ Hicks. Popular Restaurant In Fairfield County Closes After Fire A fire in the ductwork of a popular Fairfield County restaurant caused the business to close. The fire, which took place around 11 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6 at the Asiana Cafe, located at 68 E. Putnam Ave., in Greenwich, has closed the establishment until further notice. The fire department said there was visible smoke coming from the ductwork in the rear of the building when they arrived on the scene. Fire Breaks Out At Long Island Ramada Inn A malfunctioning air conditioner caused a fire at a Ramada Inn on Long Island. The blaze broke out around 5:30 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 9, at the Ramada Inn at 1000 Sunrise Highway in Baldwin, said the Nassau County Police. The fire was contained to one room and the fire department was able to extinguish it quickly, officials said. No guests or personnel were injured.

The Greenburgh Central District's schools -- Woodlands Middle/High School, Lee F. Jackson Elementary, Highview Elementary, Richard J. Mother, Daughter Attack Woman Eating Pretzels In SoNo, Police Say A mother and daughter were arrested in connection with an incident at a Fairfield County mall in which they allegedly beat another woman. Covid-19: LA Fitness Location In Fairfield County Reopens After Being Ordered To Close An LA Fitness location in Fairfield County that was ordered to close after the city's health department said the business had numerous violations under the state's COVID-19 rules, has reopened.
