Blind Brook Varsity Basketball Player Collapses During Game At Pelham A Blind Brook High School boys basketball player collapsed and was revived during a game against Pelham High School in the Pelham Holiday Hoops Tournament. The game, which was being played at Pelham Middle School on Wednesday afternoon, was in the first quarter when the player collapsed during a stop in play. Body Pulled From Hudson River Near Tappan Zee Bridge Click here for an updated story: ID Released For Body Pulled From Hudson River Near Nyack Beach A body found floating in the Hudson River by a man out rowing is at the Rockland County Medical Examiner's Officer to be identified. Rockland County Sheriff's Chief William Barbera said the body of the man was spotted around 50 yards offshore from upper Nyack Beach on Wednesday afternoon. Stabbings, Shootings Mark Outbreak Of Violence In Yonkers Yonkers police were kept on the run with multiple calls overnight including multiple stabbings and a shooting incident. The first incident took place around 8:15 p.m. Tuesday when members of the Yonkers Police Department were dispatched to the vicinity of 219 Nepperhan Ave. on a report of a physical dispute. Man Charged With Firing Semiautomatic Gun Near Homes In Newburgh An Orange County man was arrested for firing a semiautomatic gun near homes and for fleeing from police. Jawkaan Kenney, 33, of Newburgh was arrested after the City of Newburgh Police Department received several calls about a person shooting in the area of Carson Avenue and South Lander Street around 1:20 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 19, said Det. Home Fire Displaces Newburgh Family Of Six On Christmas Day A family of six was displaced following a garage fire that left the home with electrical and plumbing damage in Newburgh. The fire, at 14 Hawthrone Ave., began around 4:30 p.m., Monday, in the garage where some tools, including a welder, were plugged into an outlet, said Acting Newburgh Fire Chief Terry Ahlers. One of the cords caught fire and spread to the walls and a car parked in the garage area, he said. Middletown Mayor, Council President Get Pay Raises Middletown Mayor Joe DeStefano received a pay raise last week that puts his salary more in line with those serving in surrounding areas. Mayor since 1994, the raise, which passed 6-3 by the Common Council on Dec. 11, will increase DeStefano's earnings from $75,000 to $95,000, said City Clerk John Naumchik. The measure, which was sponsored by First Ward Alderman Joseph Masi, also included a pay raise for Council President J. Miguel Rodrigues from $15,000 to $20,000. House Fire Breaks Out In Middletown Firefighters are at the scene of a two-alarm fire at a home in Middletown. The department received the call around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, and is battling the blaze that broke out at 51 Horton Ave., and has spread throughout the home with the help of several mutual aid departments. Yonkers Man Turns Himself In For 2013 Murder A 41-year-old Westchester resident has been arrested for the murder of a man found stabbed to death on June 27, 2013, according to New York City Police. Efijenio Deletorre, 62, of Yonkers was found after police responded to a report of a possible dead person inside of Van Cortlandt Park. Upon arrival, officers discovered an unidentified Deletorre, unconscious and unresponsive with multiple stab wounds to his torso, the NYPD said. Harrison Detective Accuses Police Chief Of Sexual Harassment A Harrison police detective has filed an official complaint with the Town of Harrison accusing Police Chief Michael Olsey of sexual harassment, according to News 12. Detective Derka Abbate told News 12 that she had been harassed for at least six years and says she's not the only woman in the department who is harassed by the chief. Blaze Breaks Out Next To Bedford Hills Fire House Bedford Hills firefighters were met by a blaze right next to their firehouse on Bedford Road when getting ready to respond to a house fire in Somers.
