Quick Response After Report Of Structure Fire At Bank In Mahopac Falls PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. -- A report of a structure fire at Tompkins Bank in Mahopac Falls brought out a quick response around noon on Tuesday. Officials received a call for a possible fire and responded within minutes to the bank on Route 6N, fire officials said. Firefighters from the Mahopac Falls Fire Department, along with a ladder truck from Mahopac Fire Department, and Carmel police responded to find a small fire and smoke that was quickly extinguished and crews double checked the area for additional fire with thermal imaging cameras. At this time, the cause is under investigation.

Man Killed In Head-On Crash Between Fuel Tanker, Car In Woodbury This story has been updated. A passenger in a car was killed in a head-on crash with a fuel tanker that occurred on Route 32 in Orange County overnight. The crash happened around 1:30 a.m., Friday when a Toyota Celica, with two male occupants was traveling north on Route 32 in the area of Ridge Road in Woodbury crossed into the southbound lane and was struck head-on by a Kenworth fuel tanker carrying approximately 8,500 gallons of gasoline, said New York State Police. The passenger of the Toyota was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Orange County Medical Examiner, state police said. …

Two Suffer Severe Chemical Burns At Yonkers Bakery This story has been updated. Two sub-contractors received severe burns after being exposed to a chemical at a Westchester bakery, according to the Yonkers Fire Department. The incident took place around 10:40 a.m., Friday, with two sub-contractors performing work at the bakery receiving burns at the Greyston Bakery at 104 Alexander St. in Yonkers, according to Yonkers Deputy Fire Chief Thomas Fitzpatrick. Stony Point Police Quickly Nab Burglar With Help From Neighbor Stony Point Police made a quick arrest after receiving a report of a burglary to a home on Bender Cout around noon on Wednesday, according to police. A short time after the reported burglary a neighbor reported to police that two men in a vehicle were at his neighbor’s house and believing they were suspicious wrote down the license plate, said Lt. East Fishkill PD Mourns Loss Of Assistant Cathy DiGiacomo Members of the East Fishkill police department are mourning the loss of the department's longtime assistant and chief's secretary, Cathy DiGiacomo, on Wednesday, Dec. 20.DiGiacomo, a Fishkill resident, worked for the department for more than 20 years before retiring in 2005, the department said. Teen Girl Charged With Holding Infant At Knifepoint In Goshen Robbery A17-year-old teen from Goshen pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges she held a 4-year-old girl at knifepoint while demanding her foster mother's car keys, according to the Orange County District Attorney's Office.
