She spent 17 years at Florida Today in Melbourne, Florida as a general assignment reporter, crime reporter, entertainment reporter and restaurant critic. She worked four years at Hometown News as a general assignment reporter, then another two years at Spacecoast Daily in Cocoa Beach, Florida. She attended Eastern Florida State College in Melbourne, Florida.

'Kayak Killer' 'Ready To Begin Reconstructing Her Life,' Says Lawyer Angelika Graswald walked out of the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility for Women on Thursday a free woman, just two months after being sentenced for the criminally negligent homicide of her fiance, Vincent Viafore. Man Wanted For Sex Assault Nabbed In Newburgh A man wanted on a 44-count indictment for multiple sexual assault and child pornography charges was nabbed Wednesday at the Super 8 Motel in Newburgh, according to Orange County Sheriff Carl DuBois. Paul Carper, 46, of Radford, Va., was arrested at the motel at 1287 Route 300, by members of the U.S. Marshals NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force, which includes a member of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. Carper s being held without bail at the Orange County Jail, awaiting extradition to Virginia.

High Falls Woman Charged In Domestic Dispute Stabbing A 37-year-old High Falls woman was charged with stabbing her boyfriend during a domestic dispute that became physical, according to the Ulster County Sheriff's Office. Lisa M. Barros was arrested around 4:40 a.m. Wednesday, after deputies, responded to an address in High Falls for a reported domestic dispute, the Sheriff's Office said. An investigation revealed Barros and her boyfriend were involved in an argument which became physical with stabbing him with a knife, causing, non-life threatening injuries. 'Felony Lane' Gang Members Nabbed In Town of Poughkeepsie This story has been updated. The Town of Poughkeepsie police nabbed three members of a Florida-based gang that is known to operate throughout the country targeting areas where women hang out in order to steal their purses and identification and then later uses it to drain their bank accounts or purchase items. Police said the gang, known as the "Felony Lane Gang," has about 100 members who use wigs and other disguises to pull off their crimes. Fuel Spill Under Investigation In Wappingers Falls Firefighters are on the scene of a minor fuel spill of about five gallons leading into the Hudson River off of River Road North in Wappingers Falls, said Chelsea Fire Department officials. The event, which occurred around 9:30 a.m. Thursday, took place at 157 River Road N., home to Chelsea Forest Products. Yonkers Man Ran Over, Killed Teen Girl After Argument, Police Say A 21-year-old Yonkers man has been charged with felony manslaughter after running over a 16-year-old girl and killing her following an argument on Nepperhan Avenue, according to the Yonkers Police. The killing took place at 9:40 a.m. Wednesday, when police responded to a call for a dispute in the vicinity in the area of Neppherhan and Ashburton avenues, said Dean Politopoulos. John Jay Students Vote To Keep 'Indians' Nickname John Jay High School in Cross River will retain the "Indians" mascot after more than 58 percent of students voted to keep the current nickname, according to school officials. Woman Fatally Struck In Yonkers May Have Known Suspect, Reports Say A young woman who was hit and killed by a car around 10 a.m. Wednesday may have known her killer, according to News 12. The scene where the woman was run down at 354 Nepperhan Ave., has become an emotional crime scene as family members and friends gather to mourn, the news outlet said. News 12 is also reporting that a suspect is in custody. Yonkers police, who are on scene investigating the crime, have not confirmed the information, but family members told News 12 reporters that the two knew each other. Woman Killed After Being Struck By Car In Yonkers This story has been updated. Yonkers police are asking motorists to avoid the area near Nepperhan Avenue as police investigate the death of a woman who was struck by a car. The incident took place around 10 a.m., Wednesday, on Nepperhan Avenue near Ashburton Avenue, according to Yonkers Police Spokesman Sgt. Dean Politipoulos. Incident Causes Lockdown At Dutchess County Jail An incident with a single inmate caused a temporary lockdown at the Dutchess County Jail late last week, according to jail administrator Michael Walters. The lockdown, where inmates are kept in their cells, took place Friday after one inmate became unruly and it took several corrections officers to calm him down and take him to the medical unit, Walters said.
