Longtime Police Officer In Fairfield County Fired For Assault Incident A longtime Bridgeport police officer was fired Tuesday for drunk driving and assaulting a man at a local motel. Police Chief Armando Perez said he had little choice but to fire Officer Omar Jimenez, 34, following an Internal Affairs investigation into the September 24, 2016, incident. A 10-year-member of the force, Jimenez was off duty and intoxicated when he struck a fire hydrant on Fairfield Avenue in Bridgeport, the chief said. Tractor-Trailers Get Stuck In Snow After Violating I-84 Travel Ban Despite a ban of all tractor-trailers on all major thruways, several drivers waited for state police to leave I-84 in the East Fishkill area and then became stuck in the snow, according to state police. According to Trooper AJ Hicks, multiple truck drivers waited until State Troopers stopped writing tickets and then snuck onto the I-84 and became stuck. "We (the State Police) stopped writing tickets because it became too dangerous, and that's when the drivers snuck onto the highway," he said. I-84, I-684 Travel Restrictions In Effect State Thruway officials have restricted travel on major roadways throughout the area during the nor'easter. The authority put out an advisory Wednesday asking motorists to avoid travel unless absolutely necessary and have banned travel by all commercial vehicles including tractor-trailers, high-profile truck, and buses on all major highways. Mahopac Falls Firefighters Save Family's Home A Mahopac Falls family were able to stay in their home following a fire Tuesday thanks to the quick work of firefighters. The fire, at 85 Concord Drive, started around 1:30 p.m. on the outside of the home, said officials with the Mahopac Falls Fire Department. When Mahopac Falls firefighters arrived on scene they found low-hanging electrical wires as well as a downed tree. Bridgeport Trio Nabbed With Guns, Drugs, State Police Say A Bridgeport man and woman, along with a juvenile are behind bars following a warrant raid on their home that uncovered a cache of guns and drugs. Clarkstown Police Mourn Death Of Retired Officer The Clarkstown Police Department is mourning the loss of a longtime member of the department who died on Sunday. Retired Police Officer Greg Tobin died peacefully at home in West Nyack. Tobin served with the department from 1982 until his retirement in 2005. His son Greg Tobin is carrying on the tradition as a current member of the department. The department said that Tobin was a great father and husband and that seeing his son in the Clarkstown uniform was a great source of pride. 5-Year-Old Hudson Valley Boy Goes Missing Police are asking for help in locating a 5-year-old boy missing from the City of Poughkeepsie who may have been snatched by his father. Noah J. Cruz was last seen on Feb. 16 at a local pizza restaurant with his paternal grandmother. According to the state's Missing Persons Clearinghouse, he was last seen wearing a black shirt, gray jacket, black sweatpants and black Nike sneakers. Stamford Cops Seize Kilo Of Marijuana Butter During Raid A Stamford man who has been busted by city police in the past was nabbed last month for having a kilo of marijuana butter, along with a pound of pot. Capt. Richard Conklin said officers from the Narcotics and Organized crime squad uncovered the drugs, along with a sophisticated grow house set-up during a Feb. 23 raid on the home of Maxx Vizioli, 23.
