New Canaan Police Issue New Warning On Thefts From Mailboxes More than a month after New Canaan Police warned residents to avoid using large USPS mailboxes due to a rise in the thefts from the boxes, they have issued another warning as the crimes continue. On Thursday, the department issued another warning via Twitter warning residents: "Public and private mailboxes continue to be compromised," they wrote. Lacrosse Coach At Darien High School Arrested A boys lacrosse coach on one of the area's most successful programs was arrested at the school on an active warrant for possession of narcotics, according to the Waterbury Police Department. Raul Bourgeois, a coach on Darien High School's freshman team, was arrested around 2 p.m. Thursday by Darien Police officers after being notified by the Waterbury Police Department, that he was believed to be on the campus, Darien Police said. Stony Point Man Busted On Warrants For Grand Larceny A Stony Point man was nabbed on two open bench warrants for grand larceny and possession of stolen property, according to police. Daniel Monahan, 21, was arrested May 1 after police noticed he was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped for a traffic violation, said Lt. Daniel Hylas. The officer knew that Monahan had two warrants for grand larceny, criminal possession of stolen property, criminal possession of credit card and two counts of petit theft, he said. ID Released For Man Killed In I-95 Three-Car Crash A man killed in a three-car chain-reaction crash on I-95 in Greenwich has been identified by Connecticut State Police. Manuel Carlos DePenna, 58, of Bulverde, Texas, sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to the state police. Body Discovered Near Metro-North Tracks Metro-North officials suspended service on the Wassaic Line after a body was discovered near the tracks in Putnam County, according to MTA officials. The body was found around 9:15 a.m. Thursday near the Dykeman Road railroad crossing in Brewster, said Aaron Donovan, deputy communications director for the MTA. Man Busted For Drugs Following Police Chase A man who took Connecticut State Police on a chase was later busted for drugs when cocaine was discovered in his vehicle. Anthony Stevenson, 46, of Waterbury, was busted around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday after officers attempted to stop him for an equipment violation, state police said. But instead of stopping, Stevenson continued to drive, engaging police in a pursuit that continued for a short distance, finally stopping on Ayer Street in the City of Waterbury, police said. Two Stabbed In Poughkeepsie During Large Fight City of Poughkeepsie police said two stabbings Wednesday are related to each other and that the victims are not cooperating with police. The incident occurred around 9:10 p.m. when officers responded to a large fight on Conklin Street, said Det. Lt. Matt Clark. Officers found one victim on Conklin Street and another at the intersection of Mansion and Catharine streets, Clark said. Injuries to both victims are considered non-life threatening, he added. The victims were taken to area hospitals for treatment.
