Man Caught With 500 Bags Of Heroin In Hudson Valley Drug Bust
A 49-year-old Hudson Valley man was busted with 500 bags of heroin during a search, according to police.
Carl Peon Diaz, 49, of Wappinger was arrested Monday, June 4, by members of the Dutchess County Drug Task Force, said Frank Tasciotti, assistant coordinator of the task force.
Diaz was nabbed after the task force received information regarding narcotics sales between the cities of Beacon and Poughkeepsie, Tasciotti said.

HS Students In Fairfield County Plans Stand Up Against Hate Rally
For those looking for a place to stand up against recent incidents of hate and violence across the country, can join a group of high school students this weekend at a rally aimed at ending "hate."
The event, Sunday, June 10 in Ridgefield from 2 to 7 p.m., at Ballard Park, 485 Main St., will feature everyone from Glenda Armstrong, president of the Danbury chapter of the NAACP, to a rabbi, to a Jewish youth leader and educator of the group Stand With Us, to a teacher and student speaker from Ridgefield High School.

Orange County Couple Sentenced For Tax Fraud
A judge sentenced an Orange County couple to community service and conditional discharge on criminal tax fraud charges.
John Quick, 68, and his wife, Mary Quick, 63, both from the town of Goshen, were sentenced Friday in Orange County Court for tax crimes involving the failure to report over $35,000 they had obtained from a developmentally disabled man living on their property, as well as other income, said Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler.
Orange County Court Judge William DeProspo also issued a restitution order requiring the Quicks to pay $35,783.67 to the man.
