Motorist Charged With DWI After Car Slams Into Tree In Greenwich A Riverside man was busted for drunk driving after slamming his car into a tree, according to Greenwich Police. Richard Wright, 51, was arrested around 10:38 p.m. Thursday after police received a 911 and a hang-up in the area of Pilot Rock Lane. While on the way, officers noticed indications of an accident on Indian Head Road, a police report said. When officers found Wright he was slurring his speech and unsteady on his feet. Spring Valley Fire Chief Rescues Man Saving Kitten Spring Valley Fire Chief Ray Canario thought he would go help save a kitten up a tree when a call came in, but instead, he ended up rescuing the man who was trying to save the kitten.  "It was priceless," the chief said with a laugh.  According to Canario, the man, who lives on Wolfe Drive, had used a 6-foot ladder to try and save a kitten in a tree but ended up climbing about 10 feet to reach the little fuzz ball.  Once he reached that high, he couldn't get back down to his 6-foot-ladder with the cat, Canario said. Woman Found Dead, Covered In Blood In Stamford Police are investigating the death of a woman, found covered in blood in Stamford, according to multiple sources. The woman was found bloodied and not breathing around 8:30 a.m. Monday on Hycliff Terrace after receiving an emergency call.  A man who was hovering over the woman had to be removed when investigators arrived, sources said. Man Caught With 500 Bags Of Heroin In Hudson Valley Drug Bust A 49-year-old Hudson Valley man was busted with 500 bags of heroin during a search, according to police. Carl Peon Diaz, 49, of Wappinger was arrested Monday, June 4, by members of the Dutchess County Drug Task Force, said Frank Tasciotti, assistant coordinator of the task force. Diaz was nabbed after the task force received information regarding narcotics sales between the cities of Beacon and Poughkeepsie, Tasciotti said. Rockland Man Nabbed In Attempted Home Break-In A Rockland County man was nabbed for attempting to break into a vacant home after he was seen by neighbors. Daniel A. Monahan, 21, of Stony Point, was arrested Tuesday after the Stony Point Police Department responded to a report of an individual attempting to enter a vacant home on Beech Road, said Stony Point Lt. Daniel Hylas. A neighbor of the home saw two males at the house and saw Monahan attempting to open a window, Hylas said. Following an investigation, Monahan was arrested and charged with criminal trespass and released. He is scheduled to appear in court on July 5.
