She worked four years at Hometown News as a general assignment reporter, then another two years at Spacecoast Daily in Cocoa Beach, Florida. Man Airlifted To Westchester Medical Center Dies After Single-Car Crash A 44-year-old man who was airlifted to an area hospital following a single-vehicle crash has died. Christopher M. Baxter, of Staatsburg, died from his injuries once he arrived at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, according to Capt. John Watterson with the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office. Watterson said the crash occurred around 8 a.m. Monday on All Angels Hill Road in Wappinger. An investigation into the crash is underway, he added.

Female Swimmer Dies From Injuries Suffered In Candlewood Lake Accident A 38-year-old woman involved in a boating accident on Squantz Pond in New Fairfield has died from her injuries. Wanda Tirado of Waterbury, a swimmer from a boat, was hit around 2:15 p.m. Tuesday at Squantz Pond on Candlewood Lake and suffered critical injuries, said Chris Collibee, with the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection. Tirado died around 11:15 a.m. Wednesday from the injuries sustained, Collibee said. 17-Year-Old Drowns While Swimming In Hudson Valley Lake A 17-year-old area teen drowned while swimming in Rondout Creek in High Falls, despite an attempt at rescue by a special water-rescue team. Christopher Pelaez of Wallkill was recovered Tuesday around noon by officers from the Ulster County Sheriff's Office. Deputies responded to the area 18 Bruceville Road in the Town of Marbletown after receiving a distress call. Suspect On Loose After Shooting One, Slashing Another In Westchester Police are on the hunt for a suspect who shot one man and slashed another during a dispute in broad daylight in Westchester. The incident took place around 4 p.m. Tuesday at 47 Riverdale Ave., in Yonkers, when the dispute escalated into violence, said Yonkers Police Det. Sgt. Dean Politopoulos. Man, 23, Charged With Stealing From Lockers At Westport YMCA A 23-year-old man was busted for stealing from lockers at the Westport YMCA on several occasions, according to the Westport Police. Westport Police were alerted to the thefts for the first time on Jan. 29 after receiving an online report of larceny from the Westport Weston YMCA, said Lt. Jillian Cabana. Man Caught With Heroin Near School Zone In Rockland A Rockland County man was busted with 13 decks of heroin near a school zone following a traffic stop, according to the Stony Point Police. Nicholas Pagliuca, 41, of Stony Point, was arrested Thursday, June 14, when officers stopped Pagliuca for speeding in a school zone on Route 210 in Stony Point, said Lt. Daniel Hylas. During a search following the stop, Pagliuca was found to be in possession of heroin and a hypodermic instrument, Hylas said. New Canaan Car Theft Suspects Caught Near Trumbull Mall An electronic tracking device led police to two car thieves and a vehicle stolen out of New Canaan in a parking lot at the Trumbull Mall. Top Floors Of Seven-Story Poughkeepsie Building To Be Demolished The top three floors of the seven-story Poughkeepsie building that collapsed on Monday, trapping two people, will be demolished, according to city officials.
