She worked four years at Hometown News as a general assignment reporter, then another two years at Spacecoast Daily in Cocoa Beach, Florida. She attended Eastern Florida State College in Melbourne, Florida.

Police Probe Residential Robbery In Orange County The Town of Newburgh Police Department is investigating a report of a residential robbery on Mill Street in the north end of the town. The investigation is in the very early stages Thursday morning and no other specific information was available for release at this time, said Lt. James Nenni. Victim Of Fatal Candlewood Lake Accident Was Beloved Teacher The victim of a fatal boating accident on Candlewood Lake in New Fairfield was a beloved middle school teacher and a single mother of two. Wanda Tirado, 38, of Waterbury, was fatally injured when she was swimming near Squantz Cove late Tuesday afternoon. A teacher at St. Mary"s School in Waterbury, Tirado taught both math and science, school officials said. Enjoying A Morning Stroll: Black Bear Makes Rounds In Poughkeepsie It seems black bears are everywhere these days, including this one enjoying a morning stroll in Poughkeepsie. Daily Voice reader Lauren Jolly snapped this shot of the bear cruising through his neighbor's yard on Casper Creek Road early Thursday morning. He, or she, didn't seem interested in visiting and just moved along. Of course, never approach a black bear and don't keep food or birdseed in your yard to attract them. Fairfield County Man Charged With Distributing Counterfeit Drugs A Fairfield County man was arrested and charged on a federal criminal complaint related to distributing counterfeit drugs. Kamil Golebiowski, 25, of Shelton, was arrested Tuesday as part of an ongoing statewide initiative targeting narcotics dealers who distribute heroin, fentanyl or opioids that cause death or serious injury to users, said John H. State Sues Manufacturers Of Foam That Contaminated Drinking Water In Area New York State is suing the 3M Company and five other companies to recover the cost for environmental cleanup and natural resource damages caused by the toxic chemicals in firefighting foam they manufacture. One Adult, Three Juveniles Arrested After Vandalism At CT High School One adult and three juveniles were arrested by state police in connection with vandalism at a Connecticut high school that ruined the graduation set-up. The damage was discovered around 7 a.m. Tuesday at Wilcox Technical High School in Meriden, according to the Connecticut State Police. Police said school administrators found the stage and chairs that had been set up in the rear parking lot for the graduation ceremony had been damaged after being struck with eggs and paintballs. Man Charged With Illegal Racing, Negligent Homicide In Area Crash A 29-year-old man involved in a road race that ended with the death of his passenger has been charged with negligent homicide. Ronald Patterson, of Bridgeport, was arrested Tuesday in connection with the April 6 crash that left his passenger, Dawaan Edwards, dead, said Stratford Police Capt. Frank Eannotti. Man Airlifted To Westchester Medical Center Dies After Single-Car Crash A 44-year-old man who was airlifted to an area hospital following a single-vehicle crash has died. Christopher M. Baxter, of Staatsburg, died from his injuries once he arrived at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, according to Capt. John Watterson with the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office. Watterson said the crash occurred around 8 a.m. Monday on All Angels Hill Road in Wappinger. An investigation into the crash is underway, he added.

Female Swimmer Dies From Injuries Suffered In Candlewood Lake Accident A 38-year-old woman involved in a boating accident on Squantz Pond in New Fairfield has died from her injuries. Wanda Tirado of Waterbury, a swimmer from a boat, was hit around 2:15 p.m. Tuesday at Squantz Pond on Candlewood Lake and suffered critical injuries, said Chris Collibee, with the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection. Tirado died around 11:15 a.m. Wednesday from the injuries sustained, Collibee said. 17-Year-Old Drowns While Swimming In Hudson Valley Lake A 17-year-old area teen drowned while swimming in Rondout Creek in High Falls, despite an attempt at rescue by a special water-rescue team. Christopher Pelaez of Wallkill was recovered Tuesday around noon by officers from the Ulster County Sheriff's Office. Deputies responded to the area 18 Bruceville Road in the Town of Marbletown after receiving a distress call.
