Fire Breaks Out At Norwalk Business Strip A fire at a Variety store in a strip mall on Main Street in Norwalk spread throughout the building early Thursday. Norwalk firefighters responded around 2:30 a.m. at 61 Main St., for a reported structure fire, according to Norwalk Fire Department Deputy Chief Todd Smith. Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the Variety store and after the initial attack crews made entry and found heavy fire in the rear of the building that was quickly extinguished, Smith said. DuBois recently presided over the promotion ceremony of Deputy Bernard Mendoza to Sergeant.  Mendoza has been with the department for more than 12 years and has been a member of Investigations, Bike Patrol, Boat Patrol, ATV, Honor Guard and Field Training.  "Sheriff DuBois and the entire OCSO would like to congratulate Sergeant Mendoza and wish him the best of luck," the department said on Facebook.

Hudson Valley Man Admits To Burning Cat, Kitten To Death An Orange County man has pleaded guilty to animal cruelty and bail-jumping after he burned a kitten and a cat to death in a cage.
