Westchester Woman Sexually Assaulted By Uber Driver, Police Say A 26-year-old Uber driver who sexually assaulted a Westchester woman on a ride home from NYC has been arrested for the attack, according to the Rye Brook Police.The attack occurred on Friday, June 8 when the 39-year-old woman hailed an Uber for a ride home from Manhattan after being out with friends in the city, said Rye Brook Det. Attack On 89-Year-Old Woman In Area Was Sexual Assault, Police Say An 89-year-old woman who was attacked by an unknown man or group of men was also sexually assaulted, according to the Clarkstown Police Department. According to the department's Detective Bureau, the attack of the woman sometime between 5 p.m. on Tuesday and 5 a.m. Wednesday near Normandy Village in Nanuet, is being classified as a sexual assault based on medical examinations of the victim, said Officer Peter Walker, spokesman for the department. Woman Struck, Killed By Grand Central-Bound Metro-North Train Click here for an updated story ID Released For Woman Hit, Killed By Metro-North New Haven Line Train A 34-year-old woman was hit and killed by a Grand Central-bound Metro-North New Haven line train east of Milford Station. The incident took place around 9 p.m. Thursday, said Aaron Donovan, an MTA spokesman. According to Donovan, the department is waiting to release the woman's name pending notification of next of kin. Stranded Pair Pulled From Water After Boat Sinks In Westchester Two people were rescued from the water off New Rochelle after their boat hit a rock, stranding them in the water. The incident took place around 8:10 p.m. Wednesday near Glen Island Park, said New Rochelle Police Capt. J.C. Coyne. According to Coyne, the two unidentified people had been out boating when they hit a rock and their boat began to sink. Luckily, New Rochelle Officer Timothy Childs was out paroling the harbor when he spotted the two in trouble. Video: Woman Faces New Charges After Racial Rant On Hudson Valley Bus A Rockland County woman who threatened passengers on a TOR bus with racially charged insults and one physical attack with the video of the incident going viral is now facing new charges from the Rockland County Sheriff's Office. Home Catches Fire After Lightning Strike In Putnam A house struck by lightning in Putnam County during a thunderstorm on Wednesday was saved by firefighters with the Putnam Valley Volunteer Fire Department. The storm, which occurred around 4:30 p.m., sent lighting flying into the side of a home on Old Stone House Road in Putnam Valley, the fire department said on Facebook. Flames burned the side of the house, but firefighters were able to extinguish them within minutes, they added. Car Slams Into Pole, Injuring Seven Women In Westchester Seven young women were rushed to a local hospital after the vehicle they were riding in slammed into a telephone pole in Westchester. The crash occurred around 11:45 p.m. Wednesday on Saw Mill River Road in Yonkers, Police Lt Michael Hanley said. All seven of the women received non-life threatening injuries, Hanley said. The roadway was closed for a short time for a crash investigation, Hanley said. First responders had to cut their way into the 2011 Nissan to rescue some of the women, officials said. Hanley said the cause of the crash is under investigation.

Three Nabbed In Stratford With Guns, Drugs Stratford police nabbed three people with drugs and a Glock 43 after receiving complaints from area residents. The arrests stemmed from a stop/investigation of several individuals loitering on property belonging to the housing authority, said Stratford Police Capt. Frank Eannotti. None of the men lived within the housing complex. 'Cat' Burglar Who Broke Into Home Injures Teen, Stamford PD Says A "cat" burglar who broke into an occupied home while the residents were sleeping injured a teen who caught him stealing a money jar from his room, police said. Stamford Police received a call for help around 3:26 a.m. Thursday, July 5 on Henry Street for a report of a man who had entered the home while the residents were sleeping and then attacked one of the residents, according to the Stamford Police. 5-Year-Old Drowns In Fairfield County Backyard Pool, Police Say This story has been updated. A 5-year-old child is dead after drowning in the family's backyard pool in Fairfield County, police said. Police were called to the home on Sunnybank Avenue in Stratford for a report of a child drowned in the pool on Tuesday, July 3, said Capt. Frank Eannotti. When officers arrived on scene, they performed CPR until EMS arrived and transported the child to a local hospital, where the child died. Eannotti said the family has asked for privacy and no other details will be released.
