Alleged Teen Car Thieves Nabbed Following Chase, Crash, Greenwich PD Says Two teens were nabbed for stealing two cars and then crashing them, while a few others got away, according to the Greenwich Police. The incident took place around 3:15 a.m. Sunday when officers on patrol in the area of South Beach Avenue and West End Avenue saw two vehicles that had been reported stolen fly through a red light, said Lt. 10 Displaced Following Bridgeport Fire Ten people were left homeless following a fire at the Crescent Crossing apartment complex in Bridgeport on Sunday morning. The fire started around 10:49 a.m. at the complex at 160 Church St., said Michael A. Caldaroni, assistant fire chief with the Bridgeport Fire Department. When crews arrived they located a kitchen fire in apartment #413 that had been extinguished by the automatic sprinkler system. Greenwich Man Killed, Two Stamford Men Seriously Injured In I-95 Crash A Greenwich man was killed and two other men from Stamford were seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash on I-95 early Monday. The crash, which killed Michael Vincente Chavez, 28, of Greenwich, took place around 4:10 a.m. on northbound I-95, north of Exit 6 in Stamford, said Connecticut State Trooper Kelly Grant. Woman 23, Charged In Route 15 Crash That Killed Fairfield County Resident A 23-year-old woman who had a blood alcohol content at twice the legal limit has been charged with manslaughter in the death of a man during a crash on Route 15. Taylor Madison Stanford of Milford was arrested Friday by Connecticut State Police in connection with May 27, 2017, crash that took the life of Michael Zawadski, 45, of Stratford, said Trooper Kelly Grant. Fire At Plastic Manufacturing Plant Leads To Power Outages, Road Closures A burning inferno at a plastic manufacturing facility has closed several roadways in Stratford due to billowing smoke and cut power to area residents and customers.The fire at 10 Research Drive began around 6:30 a.m. Monday, in the 12,504 square foot building, blocking area streets due to heavy smoke and HazMat issues. Old Greenwich Woman Held On Intentional Cruelty To Persons Charges A 40-year-old woman was arrested for intentional cruelty following a months-long investigation by the Special Victims Unit. Evelyn Stowell of Old Greenwich was arrested Monday, July 2 on a warrant and charged with intentional cruelty to persons, the risk of injury to a child, and assault, following the investigation which began in April, an arrest report says. Greenwich Police officials said due to the nature of the crime, they could not release additional information. Stowell is being held on $25,000 bond.

Man Stopped In Stony Point With 24 License Suspensions A man was nabbed in Stony Point with 24 active suspensions on his New York driver's license. Yandoll Cortorreal, 30, of Manhattan, was stopped by Stony Point Police around 7 a.m. Wednesday, July 4 on Willow Grove road with temporary Texas license plates and unsafe tires, said Lt. Daniel Hylas. During the stop, the officer found that in addition to 24 suspensions, on 16 separate dates, Cortorreal was also wanted by the NYPD for felony aggravated unlicensed of a vehicle, Hylas said. Man Killed After Car Crashes Into CT House A Connecticut man died after losing control of his car and crashing into a home on Wednesday night. Christopher Cannizzaro, 51, of Tolland, died around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday after hitting the home at 85 Charles Street in Tolland, said Connecticut State Police.
