Man Charged In Brutal Murder Of Wife's Disabled Uncle In Fairfield County A 39-year-old Fairfield County man has been charged in the brutal murder of his wife's disabled uncle who was tortured before his death.  Brent Whiteman of Bridgeport was arrested Friday on a warrant charging him with the  Feb. 8, 2017, murder of his wife's uncle, Robert Jones, said Av Harris, spokesman for the Bridgeport Police. Whiteman's wife, Tynisha Hall, is currently awaiting trial for her role in the murder. Car Slams Into Store At Mahopac Village Shopping Centre A driver hit the gas instead of the brake and slammed into the front of the Rite Aid pharmacy in Mahopac, closing the business, according to Carmel Police. The incident took place around 9:15 a.m. Monday at the Mahopac Village Shopping Centre on Route 6 in Mahopac, police said. No one was injured, but the building was asked to close until it could be inspected for structural soundness, Carmel Police said. All all of the other businesses in the plaza remain open.

Search Is On For Man Who Allegedly Stole Cell Phones, $500 From Fairfield County Church Do you know him?Stamford Police are asking the public for help in identifying a man who allegedly stole items from a local church on perhaps more than one occasion. Detectives from the Property Crimes Division says the video shows footage of the suspect stealing items from St. John's Episcopal Church on Main Street in Stamford. Break-in began at the church in October, with the latest taking place in May. Items stolen include cell phones and other goods. Greenwich Man Driving 'Unreasonably Fast' Was Under Influence, Police Say A Greenwich man was nabbed for DUI after police spotted him driving "unreasonably fast." Richard Luke Lamanna, 23, was arrested around 1:24 a.m. Monday on Round Hill Road after police spotted him driving 50 mph in a 30 mph zone, said Greenwich Police Lt. John Slusarz.  During the stop, officers could smell alcohol on Lamanna's breath and he was asked to take a series of field sobriety tests, which he failed, police said. He was charged with driving an unregistered vehicle, traveling unreasonably fast, and DUI.  Lamanna was released to a friend on $100 bond.

Norwalk Man Charged With Violating Order Of Protection In Greenwich A Norwalk man was charged with violating a protective order after allegedly sending the victim an email. John E. Burns, 42, was busted on Thursday, Aug. 2, around 3:28 p.m. when Greenwich police responded to a private residence for a complaint of a violation of a protective order, said Lt. John Slusarz. An investigation revealed that Burns had contacted the victim through an email after the court order was served, he added. Burns was charged with violation of a court order and held on $1,000 bond which he was able to post.

Susan Singer, 57, of Ossining, was hit around 7 a.m. between the Hawthorne and Valhalla stations, said MTA officials.
