Search On For Hit-Run Driver After Motorcyclist Killed In Horrific Crash A 51-year-old motorcyclist was killed after crashing with a vehicle, getting thrown into the air and landing on the hood of the car, with his head becoming lodged in the windshield as the driver fled the scene, police said. The hit-and-run crash occurred around 10:37 p.m. Monday on Whalley Avenue in New Haven, according to New Haven Police Officer David Hartman. Man Rips Off 79-Year-Old Woman's Purse In Town Of Poughkeepsie Parking Lot, Police Say A 41-year-old man was apprehended after a brief foot chase for stealing the purse of a 79-year-old woman in a parking lot, according to Town of Poughkeepsie Police. The incident took place Monday when Town of Poughkeepsie police received a call that a woman was forcibly robbed of her pocketbook while entering her vehicle in a parking lot in the area of Main Street, said Capt. Woman Nabbed For Making Purchases With Debit Card Stolen At New Canaan Historical Society Event A woman was arrested on a warrant for stealing a debit card during a New Canaan Historical Society event and charging items, police said. Sharon Toscano, 44, of Norwalk, turned herself in to New Canaan Police in connection with the June event, said New Canaan Police Lt. Jason Ferraro. Man Jumps Into Hudson River After Trespassing On Train Tracks In Scarborough, MTA Says A man was arrested for trespassing on the tracks at the Scarborough Metro-North Station after jumping into the Hudson River in an attempt to escape. The incident took place around 9:40 a.m. Tuesday when the man was spotted trespassing on the tracks by MTA Police, MTA officials said. The man then jumped into the Hudson River when he was spotted by the officers. About 15 minutes later, he was out of the water and in custody, officials said. The unidentified man was transferred to be processed for trespassing by police, MTA officials said.

Man Caught With Two Loaded Handguns In Westchester Faces Felony Charge A 51-year-old man caught with two loaded handguns during a traffic stop landed behind bars in Westchester. Jeffrey J. Colburn, of Port Orange, Fla., was arrested around 3:15 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 5 when New York State police stopped to help a disabled vehicle on I-95 in the village of Mamaroneck, said Trooper Michael P. State Police Welcome 37 New DARE Officer Candidates DARE. in Connecticut welcomed 37 new officer candidates on Monday who will spend the next two weeks learning how to work with elementary school students in the areas of drugs and violence.The candidates for the Drug Awareness Resistance Education (DARE) program, includes 12 Connecticut state troopers, 17 police officers, one military police officer and seven out-of-state police officers. Man Charged In Brutal Murder Of Wife's Disabled Uncle In Fairfield County A 39-year-old Fairfield County man has been charged in the brutal murder of his wife's disabled uncle who was tortured before his death. Brent Whiteman of Bridgeport was arrested Friday on a warrant charging him with the Feb. 8, 2017, murder of his wife's uncle, Robert Jones, said Av Harris, spokesman for the Bridgeport Police.
