Suspicious White Powder At ATM Closes Rockland County Bank A Rockland bank is closed while the Sheriff's Office hazmat team investigates a suspicious white powder found at an ATM machine, Stony Point Police said. The powder was found around 1:33 p.m. Tuesday on the counter of the ATM machine outside the Chase Bank located at 22 S. Liberty Drive, the police department said. Agents with the Rockland County Sheriff's Office Hazmat Team are testing the powder, police said. As a precaution, the bank is closed during the testing and removal of the powder, Stony Point Police said. This is a developing story. Check back to Daily Voice for updates.

Fugitive Wanted For Murder Apprehended At Fairfield County Motel A 23-year-old man wanted for murder was taken into custody at a Fairfield County motel by the U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force. Andrew Maxswane Evins was taken into custody around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday by the U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force and the Stratford Police Department at the Rodeway Inn in Stratford, said U.S. Marshal Supervisory Deputy Brian O'Neill. ID Released For Man Killed During Police Chase Crash On I-84 The identity of the person killed during a police chase on I-84 that ended in a fiery crash has been released by New York State Police. The chase began around 9:40 p.m. Monday when New York State troopers attempted to stop a 2001 Toyota Tacoma on the Taconic State Parkway traveling north in the town of East Fishkill, said Trooper AJ Hicks. During the stop, troopers learned the operator of the vehicle, Thomas E. McGrath, 50, of Cresco, Pennsylvania, was wanted on several warrants. McGrath then fled the scene and a pursuit was initiated. Man Used Stolen Credit Card To Make Purchases At Rite Aid, Town Of Poughkeepsie Police Say Police nabbed a man who had stolen a person's credit card and then used it to purchase numerous items at a Rite Aid store. David Sanchez, 39, of Union City, was nabbed around 7 p.m. Friday by the Town of Poughkeepsie Police following a complaint of fraudulent purchases on a victim’s credit card, said Capt. Kevin Faber. Responding officers determined that Sanchez had made fraudulent purchases using the victim’s stolen credit card at Rite Aid, 3350 North Road in Poughkeepsie. Woman Struck, Killed By Car In Westchester A 61-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed while crossing a Westchester street. Patricia Mackey of Mount Vernon was killed around 5:30 p.m. Monday while walking home from work, according to Maria Donovan, spokeswoman for the Mount Vernon Police. Police say Mackey was struck on South Ninth Avenue in Mount Vernon near First Street when a gold Honda jumped the curb while in reverse, hit Mackey, and hit a brick wall while dragging her, pinned under the car. Suspect Flees After Stabbing Victim At Gas Station Off I-95 An argument inside a vehicle as it was traveling northbound on I-95 in Fairfield County left one man with stab wounds. The victim was found when state police responded to a gas station off I-95 on Honeyspot Road in Stratford around 8:50 a.m. Saturday for a report of a stabbing, Connecticut State Police said. ID Released For Person Struck, Killed By Train In Hudson Valley A 53-year-old man was hit and killed by a train Friday in Rockland County, according to MTA officials. Haroldo Mejia-Ramirez, address unknown, has been identified as the man hit and killed shortly after 1 a.m. Friday near the Nanuet/Spring Valley border, MTA officials said. The incident is under investigation by the MTA and is not believed to be a criminal act.

Woman From Connecticut One Of Victims In Random Nashville Killings A Connecticut woman was one two people shot and killed by two men who have also murdered another man shot and attacked and critically injured another woman. Jaime Sarrantonio, 30, a native of Westbrook, and Bartley Teal, 33, of Nashville, were shot and killed on Friday, Aug. 17 by two men that are the subject of a huge manhunt by Nashville, Tenn., police.
