She worked four years at Hometown News as a general assignment reporter, then another two years at Spacecoast Daily in Cocoa Beach, Florida. TV Show Filming Causes Route 15 Delays The drivers of 10 high-end cars made for speed ended up holding tickets, but not for driving too fast. Instead, they received citations for driving too slowly and backing up traffic for miles Sunday on Route 15 north and south near Heroes Tunnel (Hamden/New Haven), according to the Connecticut State Police. The incident took place around 10:30 a.m. when state police began receiving calls about the vehicles driving slowly and blocking both lanes of the highway so no other vehicles could pass, state police said. Hand Grenade Found In Backyard Of Fairfield County Home The state bomb squad was called after a contractor working on a Fairfield County home uncovered a hand grenade in the backyard. The World War II-era hand grenade, was found around 7 p.m. Saturday at the home located 45 Cornell Street in Bridgeport, said Bridgeport Police spokesman Av Harris. The fire department, which arrived on scene first, confirmed the find and the State Police bomb squad was called. The bomb squad, with help from fire and police, safely removed the grenade shortly after 8 p.m. The bomb squad will be detonating the grenade at 90 Acres Park in Bridgeport as a precaution…

60-Year-Old Woman Faces Charge After 'Verbally Berating' Victim In Greenwich, Police Say A 60-year-old woman was arrested Monday for disorderly conduct after allegedly verbally berating another person. Valeria Ann Grassi of Greenwich was arrested around 11:51 p.m. Monday when police responded to Quarry Knoll for a report of an altercation, said Greenwich Police Lt. John Slusarz. When officers arrived, they found that Grassi had verbally berated the victim in a public access area using obscene language, police said. Grassi was given a misdemeanor summons for disorderly conduct and is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 28.

Bingo Ball Caller In Northern Westchester, 71, Fixed Multiple Games, Police Say A 71-year-old BINGO caller in Northern Westchester was arrested for "fixing" multiple games following an investigation by the State Gaming Commission, Yorktown Police said. The caller, Neil Simon Gross of Mohegan Lake was arrested Thursday by Yorktown Police after the Gaming Commission received a complaint about games being fixed at the Yorktown Jewish Center, said Lt. Tom Genter. Genter said the Commission zeroed in on Gross after receiving a complaint from a BINGO player and conducting an investigation into the center's weekly games. Woman Caught With Stolen Debit Card In Hudson Valley A 34-year-old Hudson Valley woman turned herself into police after she was allegedly caught on video using a stolen debit card. Jessica I. Mann of Wappingers Falls turned herself in Monday to the Ulster County Sheriff's Office, after being caught on security video using a stolen card to withdraw money at a gas station in Port Ewen, said the Sheriff's Office. Mann was charged with the felony grand larceny and issued an appearance ticket to appear in court.

New Canaan Home Burglarized While Family Away On Vacation, Police Say Following a home burglary in New Canaan in which the family was away on vacation, police are asking residents to be sure and secure their residences. The burglary was discovered around 10:51 a.m. Monday, Aug. 13, at a home on Route 106 (Silvermine Road) when the family returned from vacation and found they had been the target of thieves, said New Canaan Police Chief Leon Krolikowski. The residence was entered through a rear sliding glass door that was removed by the burglars. A number of items were stolen during the burglary. Dog Shot, Killed By Intruder Of Home In Fairfield County A dog was shot and killed by an intruder in a Fairfield County home, according to News 12. Bridgeport police told News 12 the pit bull was shot by an intruder who was running through the backyard of a home on Remington Street Friday. The animal died after being shot in the head and stomach, said News 12. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.

Man Nabbed In Town Of Poughkeepsie Shop Rite Robbery A 28-year-old man was arrested for robbery and assault after attacking a Shop Rite employee who attempted to stop him from stealing. Antonio Locket of Poughkeepsie was arrested around Friday, Aug. 10, after Town of Poughkeepsie officers responded to the Shop Rite at 1895 South Road for a report of a shoplifter, said Town of Poughkeepsie Lt. Man Caught Stealing Credit Cards From Vehicle, East Fishkill Police Say A 33-year-old man was arrested for stealing credit cards out of a vehicle and using at least one, according to the East Fishkill Police.Matthew Smith, who has no known address, was arrested Monday after East Fishkill police received a report of the theft of credit cards from a vehicle, police said. Within a short time frame, it was determined that one of the stolen credit cards had been used at a couple of local gas stations. Greenwich Man, 22, Nabbed On Active Warrant For Assault, Strangulation A Greenwich man wanted on an active warrant was arrested Wednesday morning for assault and strangulation, amid other offenses. Matthew S. Medina, 22, was arrested around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday after police discovered his whereabouts and positively identified him by his state ID card, Greenwich Police said.
