Investigation Leads To Arrest Of Newburgh Robbery Suspect Complaints from residents about drug dealing in the area of a daycare center led to the arrest of two men for drugs, one who was wanted for an armed robbery. The arrests took place on Thursday when City of Newburgh Police detectives were in the area of 41 City Terrace in response to numerous complaints of open-air drug dealing and narcotics usage in front of the state-certified daycare center, said Newburgh Police. While in the area, investigators saw two men in front of the center, including Sean Mitchell, 19, who was wanted on a warrant for an armed robbery in Orange County, police said. …

Fairfield County Priest Accused Of Violating Policy On Contact With Minors Resigns A priest accused of violating a church policy of contact with minors has resigned rather than seek additional treatment, according to a statement from Bishop Frank J. Caggiano.  The Rev. Frank Gomez, pastor of St. Charles Borromeo Church in Bridgeport since 2015, was removed as pastor of the city’s largest parish, for what Caggiano said was violating the diocese’s policies on contact with children. A bear making the rounds in Northern Westchester has left his perch in a tree and is on the run. A reader said she just saw the bear on Route 118/129 near Jennifer's Restaurant. Yorktown Police said the bear was first spotted around noon up a tree on Hanover Street in Yorktown.  Residents are urged to use caution when outdoors in the area. Seven Officers Treated For Exposure To Fentanyl, Heroin In Hartford Several of its police officers were treated for a possible exposure to fentanyl and heroin, according to the Hartford Police Department. The incident took place around noon Thursday when officers were attempting to serve a search warrant in relation to an active investigation, the department said on Facebook.  One of the suspects of the investigation threw a package possibly containing heroin or fentanyl, at a window, sending the powder into the air inside the apartment, they said.  Several officers were exposed to the substance and were decontaminated on scene by Hartford Fire Personnel. …
