Around noon Friday Yorktown police warned of a bear up a tree which prompted Sonia Gelbart to post photos of another bear (or maybe the same, who knows?) she spotted in her Brewster backyard last week. Middletown Man Charged In Wallkill Armed Robbery A Middletown man was nabbed for an armed robbery in Wallkill following an investigation into the crime.Tyquell Graham, 20, was arrested around 5:43 p.m. Wednesday by Town of Wallkill Det. Christopher DiNapoli, said Town of Wallkill Police. The investigation into the Aug. 5 robbery found that Graham displayed a handgun while forcibly removing property from a person who was visiting the Stevens Manor Apartments, police said. Graham was charged with felony robbery, grand larceny, and menacing. He was remanded to Orange County Jail on $50,000 cash/$100,000 bond.

The arrests took place on Thursday when City of Newburgh Police detectives were in the area of 41 City Terrace in response to numerous complaints of open-air drug dealing and narcotics usage in front of the state-certified daycare center, said Newburgh Police. A bear making the rounds in Northern Westchester has left his perch in a tree and is on the run. A reader said she just saw the bear on Route 118/129 near Jennifer's Restaurant. Yorktown Police said the bear was first spotted around noon up a tree on Hanover Street in Yorktown.  Residents are urged to use caution when outdoors in the area. Contractor Violated Stop Work Order Before Port Chester Demolition Slide, City Officials Say An investigation by the village of Port Chester city manager found that the contractor in charge of a demolition project on South Main Street had violated a stop-work order before falling debris closed the roadway, city officials said.
