Phone Scams On Rise, Dutchess Sheriff Warns As the holiday season gets into high gear, the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents of Dutchess County and surrounding areas about phone scams that seem to be on the increase. Phone scams are ways in which criminals will attempt to get money from people by calling them and making up elaborate stories. Rockland Opens Sain Building For Hi Tor Animal Care Center Amid Ringworm Outbreak Following the closure of the Hi Tor Animal Care Cente due to an outbreak of ringworm, Rockland County officials announced that the empty Sain Building will be used to provide shelter. On Friday, Nov. 23, Rockland County Executive Ed Day received a letter from the center's Board of Directors seeking any assistance the county could provide during the outbreak of ringworm, a fungal infection, that has affected the shelter's cat population. One Killed, Two Injured In Two-Vehicle Crossover Crash Two men were injured and a third killed during a two-vehicle head-on crash, Connecticut State Police said. The fatal crash took place around 7 p.m. Monday on Voluntown Road in Griswold in New London County, when Gengsheng Yu, 52, of East Greenwich, Rhode Island, was hit by Scott Michael Robb, 35, of Griswold in a 2010 Honda Accent B. According to state police, Robb crossed from the westbound to eastbound lane striking Yu’s 2013 Toyota Prius. Both drivers suffered minor injuries and were transported to William W. Apparent Shooting At Popular Bar Under Investigation In Bridgeport Police are searching for any victims of an apparent shooting that took place at a popular downtown bar in Bridgeport. The incident took place around 1 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 25 at Tiago's Bar and Grill, at 211 State St., said Bridgeport Police spokesman Av Harris. Upset customers and two bullet casing were found but no suspects or victims were identified. Police have checked hospitals in the city and the surrounding area. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Bridgeport Police Department at 203-581-5100.

Two Nabbed, Two On Run After Orange County Robbery Area police are on the hunt for two armed robbery suspects, after catching two who robbed a man at gunpoint at his home.The crime took place on Friday, Nov. 23 in the Town of Montgomery when the four confronted the victim at his home, struck him in the face and stole more than $3,000 in cash, said the Town of Montgomery police. Two Newburgh residents, Dameon Trent, 41, and Aracelis Olivera, 28, were both captured following an investigation. School Bus Driver Airlifted To Westchester Medical Center After Rollover Crash A school bus driver was rescued by firefighters after the bus she was driving rolled over and she became "heavily trapped" near the border of Orange and Ulster counties.The crash took place around 7:11 a.m. Monday on Quaker Street in the area of the county line and involved a bus servicing the Wallkill School District, said the Plattekill Fire Department. Man Driving Drunk At Walgreens In Rockland Had 3-Year-Old In Car, Police Say A 38-year-old man who had a 3-year-old child in his vehicle was allegedly driving drunk with a blood-alcohol level more than twice the legal limit, according to police. Woman Steals Money From Restaurant Tip Jar, Cuts Employees With Knife, Police Say A 24-year-old woman was arrested after allegedly stealing money out of a tip jar at a Chinese restaurant and then injuring two employees with a knife.Sandra Houghtaling, of Liberty, was arrested on Friday, Nov. 23, at the Chinatown Kitchen on Route 52 in Liberty after police received a call for a robbery in progress with a knife, said the Village of Liberty Police Department. Haverstraw Man, 34, Faces Charges After Fleeing From ShopRite With Stolen Items, Police Say A 34-year-old man was nabbed for petit larceny after he was caught stealing items from a ShopRite store. David Figueroa, of Haverstraw, was arrested around 10:23 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16 after officers from the Stony Point Police Department responded to the store on a report of a larceny in progress, said Stony Point Police Lt. Man Threatens to Kill Woman, Family Before Refusing To Surrender To Police A 38-year-old Milford man was arrested after threatening to kill a woman and her family before barricading himself in his home.
