Measles Outbreak Spreads To Public School In Rockland The first case of measles at a public elementary school was reported Friday in Rockland County. The new case, at Hempstead Elementary School, is the first case at a public school since the outbreak began in Rockland County in late September. The East Ramapo School District and the school were notified on Friday by the Rockland County Department of Health, said John G. Lyon, spokesman for Rockland County. Bodies Recovered After Fire Breaks Out In Three-Story Building Click here for an updated story: Four Bodies Recovered After Fire Destroys Building Two bodies were recovered following an intense, stubborn fire at an empty three-story building early Monday. The fire, at 61 Academy St., was reported around 1:38 a.m. Monday, said City of Poughkeepsie Fire Chief Mark Johnson. Stamford Drug Bust Nets 250 Folds Of Fentanyl A city man was busted with a large amount of fentanyl after police received a tip that he was on his way to make a large drug buy to resell in the area. Kendrick Pozo, 23, of Stamford, was busted Thursday, Nov. 29, after officers with the Narcotics and Organized Crime Squad received a tip that Pozo would be traveling to New York City to make a "buy," said Stamford Police Capt. Start 9 p.m. Routine: Unlocked Vehicles Stolen, Broken Into In Westport Prompt New Warning Westport police are once again warning residents to lock their vehicles and remove valuables after two vehicles were stolen and two more broken into early Tuesday. The two stolen vehicles were taken from the Hillspoint Road area and two other motor vehicles were broken into, according to Westport Police Lt. Jillian Cabana. Three Sentenced For Murder Of Area Teen The members of a Middletown gang calling itself "Coke Wave," were sentenced to state prison for the shooting death of a man in a rival gang. The three were sentenced by Orange County Court Judge William DeProspo in connection with August 17, 2017, shooting death of Coree White in the City of Middletown. Man Arrested For Stalking Girlfriend With GPS Device In Area, Police Say A 47-year-old man is behind bars for stalking after installing a GPS tracker on his girlfriend's vehicle. Gerard Hernandez, of Walden, was arrested Monday, Nov. 26, following an investigation by the Village of Walden Police, said Sgt. Eric J. Metzger. Police discovered the GPS tracking device after the victim reported suspicious messages from Hernandez about her locations. Warning: Counterfeit $100 Bills Being Passed In Northern Westchester Northern Westchester businesses are being warned about a spike in the number of counterfeit bills being passed in the area. Peekskill Police said they have recently received reports of several unidentified subjects passing phony $100 bills at local businesses.
