Traffic Stop Leads To Felony Charge For Hamlet Of Wallkill Man A 31-year-old man was nabbed by members of the Ulster County Sheriff's Office for aggravated driving without a license following a traffic stop. William R. Montanye, of the hamlet of Wallkill, was arrested following the stop last month in the Town of Gardiner for operating a motor vehicle with a revoked license and an expired inspection, Sheriff's officials said. A further investigation found Montanye had an active warrant for failure to pay child support. Man Critically Injured In Stratford Shooting Stratford police are investigating a shooting that took place on Success Avenue. Police responded to the shooting, at 772 Success Ave., around 8:47 p.m., Thursday, March 7, said Stratford Police Capt. Frank Eannotti. An investigation found that one man had been shot twice in the torso, Eannotti said. The unidentified victim was transported to Bridgeport Hospital for treatment and is in critical condition, he added. The motive for the shooting is under investigation. Bus Driver Strike Causing Delays In Rockland Transport of Rockland bus riders across the county may experience delays as some drivers are out on strike. Some bus drivers are striking at the Hillburn facility of Transdev, which provides the TOR bus service for the county. Former Teacher Sentenced In Wappingers Child Porn Case A former Dutchess County teacher who pleaded guilty to possessing child porn has been sentenced to 10 years of probation and six months of electronic monitoring.Steven L. Schwartz, 54, was sentenced Thursday, March 7, by Dutchess County Court Judge Peter Forman, said Dutchess County Senior Assistant District Attorney Lindsey Richard. K9 Officer Mac Joins Rockland Sheriff's Office By Way Of Hungary The Rockland County Sheriff's Office has welcomed a new officer to its K9 Unit -- K9 Mac. K9 Mac is an 18-month- old German Shepard from Hungary that Sheriff Louis Falco purchased using asset forfeiture funds. The new officer is named in remembrance of our department’s recent passing of Detective Al McMahon. Bullard-Havens HS Lockdown Lifted After Bridgeport Shooting A lockdown at the Bullard-Havens Technical High School in Bridgeport has been lifted following a nearby shooting.The shooting took place around 11 a.m., Friday, March 8, near the intersection of Wessels Avenue and Hoover Street, according to Terron Jones, spokesman for the Bridgeport Police Department. Several shots were fired into a house on Wessel and a vehicle on the same street where bullet holes were found, Jones said. Fully Involved Blaze Breaks Out At Two-Story House In Tomkins Cove Firefighters and police are on the scene of a fully-involved house fire in Tomkins Cove. The fire at 2 Soluri Lane started around 10:29 a.m., Friday, March 8, said the Stony Point Police Department. Smoke and fire are visible from the structure, officials said. Part of the structure is reported to have collapsed. A two-story house is on fire at Tomkins Cove.Google Maps Stony Point and West Haverstraw fire departments are on the scene.
