Assault, Robbery Lands Beacon Man Behind Bars
Two men fighting over a cell phone landed one in handcuffs for allegedly attacking the other with a knife.
City of Beacon Police arrested Ian I Ortiz, 36, of Beacon, around 2:40 a.m., Saturday, March 9, after responding to a call regarding suspicious activity involving a vehicle in the roadway, said City of Beacon Police Det. Sgt. Jason Johnson.
Upon arrival, officers conducted interviews and determined that an altercation over a cell phone took place between two males inside of the vehicle, Johnson said.

Monroe Man Kicks In Door, Terrorizes Ex-Girlfriend During Home Invasion With 2-Year-Old Present
An area man allegedly terrorized his former girlfriend while her 2-year-old son was inside the home.
Scott Ralston, 34, of Monroe, was arrested around 3 a.m. Monday, March 11, after Shelton Police responded to a home for a report of a domestic incident, said Shelton Police Det. Richard Bango.
According to police, Ralston showed up at his ex-girlfriend’s residence at 3 .m., pounding on the door. The ex-girlfriend, who was in the residence with her 2-year-old son, barricaded herself in by placing a couch against the locked door, Bango said.

Woman Under Influence Charged After Two Fatally Struck While Crossing Road, Police Say
A woman allegedly driving under the influence struck and killed two people while they were crossing a busy Connecticut roadway.
Stonington Police said the fatal incident took place around 8:07 p.m., Saturday, March 9, at the intersection of Route 27 and Rossie Pentway in Stonington, when a vehicle driven by Carol Belli, 73, of Groton, struck and killed two people attempting to cross the roadway, said Capt. Todd Olson.
