She worked four years at Hometown News as a general assignment reporter, then another two years at Spacecoast Daily in Cocoa Beach, Florida. Construction Vehicle Crash Closes Westport Roadway Morningside Drive South in Westport was closed in front of Greens Farms Elementary due to an accident involving a construction vehicle. A utility pole was struck during the one-vehicle crash that took place early afternoon on Wednesday, Sept. 25, said Westport Police Lt. Anthony Prezioso. The operator received a minor injury, he said. The road will remain closed until Eversource can assess the damage and make repairs. No power outages have been reported. 20-Year-Old, Minor Arrested Following Fairfield County Robbery Spree A 20-year-old man and a minor were arrested in connection with a robbery spree that ended following a pursuit. The incident began when Carlos Asad and a minor, both of Bridgeport, stole an SUV in Bridgeport and then robbed a woman at gunpoint at Walgreens in Fairfield, police said. The two then headed to a Fairfield Avenue deli, and robbed the business, said Terron Jones, spokesman for the Bridgeport Police. Woman Nabbed Two Years After Attempting To Use Counterfeit Cash At Southampton 7-Eleven A 30-year-old woman was nabbed two years after attempting to use counterfeit cash at an area 7-Eleven. Kaylynn Dyer, of Brooklyn, was arrested on Tuesday, Sept. 24, by Southampton Police for the incident which took place in 2017, said Southampton Lt. Susan Ralph. The charges stemmed from a 2017 incident where allegedly Dyer attempted to use counterfeit bills to purchase several gift cards at 7-Eleven in Westhampton, Ralph said. Body Of LI Man Who Fell Off Boat In Great South Bay Found This story has been updated. The body of an East Islip man who had fallen overboard from his 34-foot Fountain boat has been found. Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the death of Samuel Gutierrez, 47, whose body was found floating in the Great South Bay, just south of Timber Point, said the Suffolk County Police. ID Released For Man Critically Injured After Being Hit By Van In Westchester A man who was critically injured after being struck by a van while attempting to cross I-287 in Harrison has been identified. Diego A. Maidana, 39, of White Plains, was struck around 2:25 p.m., on Friday, Sept. 20, remains in critical but stable condition at Westchester Medical Center, said Trooper Tara McCormick of the New York State Police. SUV Crashes Into Long Island Home An SUV lost control and slammed into a Long Island home, injuring the driver and a resident inside. The crash took place around 9:15 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 24, in Hicksville, said the Nassau County Police. According to police, a 25-year-old man was driving a 2008 Lincoln southbound on Bethpage Road when the vehicle left the roadway and struck the home on Woodbury Road. Man Struck by Car In Trumbull A Trumbull man was seriously injured when he was struck by a car on White Plains Road near the Route 25 overpass. Measles Outbreak Declared Over In Rockland After working for almost a year to put an end to an outbreak of measles in Rockland County that sickened 312 residents, the outbreak has officially been declared over. Rockland County Executive Ed Day and County Health Commissioner Dr. Patricia Schnabel Ruppert will make the announcement on Wednesday, Sept. 25, the day that marks the 42nd day that no new measles cases have been reported.
