Two Arrested Following Shooting, Discovery Of Guns
Two men were arrested following a shooting that left one man with non-life-threatening injuries and the discovery of four guns inside an apartment.
The incident unfolded around 9:55 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 25, when the City of Newburgh Police received a call about a man being shot in the area of Benkard Avenue and William Street, said Det. Lt. Joseph Burns.
When officers arrived on the scene they learned the victim, Darius Lee, 23, of Newburgh, had been shot in the hip and had been driven to St. Luke's Hospital, Burns said.

Northern Westchester High-Speed Chase Leads To Crash Of Stolen Vehicle, Arrest
A high-speed chase in Northern Westchester by New York State Police led to the arrest of a 20-year-old man who fled to evade officers during an attempted traffic stop.
Michael F. Burton Jr., of the Bronx, was arrested around 2:20 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 24, for criminal possession of stolen property, said Trooper AJ Hicks.
The incident began around 2:20 p.m., when troopers spotted Burton driving a 2019 BMW 530I at a high rate of speed on I-684 in the town of Lewisboro, said Hicks.

Longtime Popular Long Island Diner Destroyed By Fire

A popular Long Island diner was destroyed during a three-alarm fire that took more than 100 firefighters to battle.
The fire began around 4:51 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 26, at the Harvest Diner at 841 Old County Road in Westbury, said Nassau County Police.
The diner, which has been serving locals for some 40 years, was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived, police said.

Two Wanted On Warrants Nabbed In Orangetown, Police Say
Two men wanted on active warrants were nabbed by Orangetown Police after fleeing from police.
Dexter Fisher, 26, of Nanuet, and Tyrone Stewart, 28, of Nyack, were arrested around 12:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 20, on Franklin Street in Nyack, said Orangetown Det. Sgt. Thomas Holihan.
One of the men fled from police and was arrested after entering a nearby building, Holihan said.
Fisher was charged with criminal trespass, criminal mischief, unlawful possession of ammo feeding device, and unlawful possession of marijuana. He is being held at the Rockland County Jail.
