Bridgeport Man Charged In Shooting Death Of Monroe Man During Dispute Outside Variety Store
A 26-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a Monroe man outside a variety store.
Richard Brown, of Bridgeport, was charged Tuesday, Sept. 24, with manslaughter, carrying a gun without a permit, and criminal possession of a firearm, in connection with the Sunday, Sept. 1, death 41-year-old Jose Perez-Ortiz, said Bridgeport Police Lt. Christopher LaMaine.
Perez-Ortiz was shot during a dispute at the store on the corner of Noble Avenue and Shelton Street after he is seen on video surveillance allegedly attempting to stab another man.

Tainted Cocaine Suspected In Multiple Deaths In Westchester, NYC
After five deaths related to tainted cocaine in Westchester and New York City, police are working to identify the person responsible for distributing the deadly substance before more die.
The first Yonkers death, of an unidentified man took place on Friday, Sept. 20, the second, of another unidentified man, happened on Saturday, Sept. 21, said Yonkers Police Det. Sgt. Dean Politopoulos.
The three others took place in the Woodlawn area of the Bronx, Politopoulos said.
Police believe all the cases may be related to the same source of cocaine.

Father Will Have To Wait To Learn Fate In Year-Old Twins' Hot Car Deaths
A Rockland County father facing manslaughter charges after allegedly forgetting his 1-year-old twins in a hot car will have to wait a while longer to find out his fate, after appearing in a Bronx court.
Juan Rodriguez, 39, of New City, appeared briefly in court on Tuesday, Sept. 24, hoping to learn if the Bronx district attorney will proceed with criminal charges, only to be told by prosecutors that no grand jury action had been taken on the case.

ID Released For Missing LI Boater
The identity of a missing boater who is the subject of a massive search has been released by Suffolk County Police.
U.S. Coast Guard officials, along with local law enforcement, are on the Great South Bay searching for Samuel Gutierrez, 47, of East Islip, who went overboard around 11 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, said the Suffolk County Police.
The incident took place near Heckscher State Park, said Coast Guard spokesman Petty Officer Hunter Medley.
