Fairfield Resident Wins $100K In Scratch-Off Ticket
A Fairfield resident's purse is a little heavier after winning $100,000 in a lottery scratch-off game.
Alexandru Giulan won the lucky bucks on a $5,000,000 Ultimate scratch-off ticket, according to the Connecticut Lottery.
The tickets cost a whopping $30, but hey, she more than made up for the cost.
Giulan claimed the $100,000 prize at lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill on Tuesday, Oct. 15, officials said.
The popular game has nine $100,000 prizes and two $5 million prizes.

Fairfield County Drug Dealer Sentenced For Overdose Death, DEA Says
A 43-year-old man has pleaded guilty in connection with the heroin overdose death of a 27-year-old woman.
Talvin Hinton, of Bridgeport, has been sentenced to five years in prison and four years post-release monitoring following his plea, said DEA Bridgeport.
The incident took place on Sept. 23, 2017, when the Stratford Police Department responded to the report of a fatal overdose, the DEA said.
Following the woman's death, the DEA, along with the Stratford Police Department conducted an investigation into the woman's death.

Woman Dies After Driving Vehicle Into Hudson River, Police Say
A woman has died after driving her vehicle into the Hudson River in Westchester.
The incident took place around 12:45 p.m., Friday, Oct. 18, near a riverside park in Verplanck, said Kieran O'Leary, spokesman for the Westchester County Police.
The woman was discovered in the car in about 10 feet of water by divers from Yorktown Heights, he said.
Due to a strong drift, it took searchers a while to located the vehicle.
Police are not sure how the car ended up in the water, and say the incident is under investigation, pending the outcome of an autopsy.

Boy, 8, Dies After Boat Carrying Eight Flips Over In Area
An 8-year-old boy drowned after being underwater for some time when a boat carrying seven children and one adult flipped over in Haverstraw Bay.
The incident took place around 1:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 18, about 100 feet off of Haverstraw Bay, said Rockland County Sheriff's Chief William Barbera.
According to Barbera, the boat flipped over sending all eight occupants into the water. Most clung to the boat until help arrived, but the boy went underwater.
The child was recovered by dive team members, who immediately began CPR, Barbera said.
