Carjackings, Pursuit Through Three Fairfield County Towns Ends With Armed Suspects In Custody Three armed men who were allegedly attempting to carjack vehicles at gunpoint were nabbed after a wild chase through three towns. The incident began around midnight on Thursday, Dec. 12, when a silver BMW was carjacked at gunpoint in New Haven, said Fairfield Police Capt. Robert Kalamaras. Within 30 minutes, it is believed that three suspects then drove to Norwalk and unsuccessfully attempted to carjack a Maserati at gunpoint. Two Suspects Nabbed After High-Speed Chase In Westchester Leaves Six Cars Damaged Three police officers were injured during a high-speed chase in Westchester, which also left six parked damaged. The chase took place around 3 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 11, when police attempted to stop a vehicle with two men suspected of stealing packages that had been delivered to homes in Yonkers, said Yonkers Police Det. Crash Closes Road, Knocks Out Power In Rockland A crash in Rockland County has caused road closures and power outages, including at New Hempstead Elementary School. The crash took place around 4:21 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 12, when a vehicle traveling westbound on New Hempstead Road lost control and struck a utility pole causing a power outage in the area, Ramapo Police said. No injuries were reported as a result of the crash, but some 1,400 customers were without power, police said. Duo Nabbed For Long Island Home Burglary Two men have been nabbed in connection with a Long Island burglary. Bryan Alexis Farias Luna, 28, and Isaias Antonio Lienlaf Donoso, both from the country of Chile, were arrested on Wednesday, Dec. 11, in connection with a burglary that took place around 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 10, at a Melville Lane residence in Saddle Rock, said the Nassau County Police. Man Charged With Killing Girlfriend’s Cat In Naugatuck, Police Say A 25-year-old area man was arrested for allegedly killing his girlfriend's cat during a domestic dispute. Christopher Monteleone, 25, of Naugatuck, was arrested around 11 p.m., on Monday, Dec. 9, after police responded to an apartment for a reported domestic violence incident, said the Naugatuck Police. When officers arrived on the scene they learned that Monteleone allegedly killed his girlfriend’s cat, police said. Pelicans Rescued In Montauk Could Soon Be On Their Way To Bask In Florida Sun It has taken a village of volunteers to help two wayward pelicans survive after the duo failed to fly south and were stranded on Long Island. The two young brown pelicans currently are safely tucked in at the Evelyn Alexander Wildlife Center in Hampton Bays, but both are a little worse for the wear after getting too cold when they were hanging out in Montauk near the fishing docks. Police: Westchester Mother Who Tried Drowning Infant In Bathtub Charged With Attempted Murder A Westchester County mother who attempted to drown her infant son in a bathtub has been charged with attempted murder. The criminal charge filed Wednesday, Dec. 11 was the result of that investigation and consultation with the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office. Man Removed From Home In Area Following Standoff With Police A man who was barricaded inside an area home has been taken into custody by the New York State Police. The Dutchess County standoff began around 10 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 10, in the area of Osborne Hill Road in the Town of Wappinger. Vehicle Overturns During Crash On Sunrise Service Road On Long Island A two-vehicle crash in Suffolk County slowed commuter traffic, but no injuries were reported. The crash took place around 8:30 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 11, on the westbound Sunrise Service Road, in Islip, said the Suffolk County Police. Three Underground Manhole Explosions Rock Part Of Southern Westchester Three underground manhole cover explosions rocked an area in Southern Westchester and left several buildings without power. The incident took place in the Fleetwood section of Mount Vernon around 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 11, on Gramatan Avenue off East Devonia with vibrations, across the area, said Mount Vernon Fire Deputy Chief Jim Lang.
