Drowning Dog Rescued By Quick-Acting Cops On Long Island A drowning Jack Russel terrier was rescued by the Nassau County Marine Bureau after the department received a call of a dog stranded in the water.   The incident took place around 10:20 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 12, in Cedar Swamp in Merrick, said the Nassau County Police.  According to police, Marine 11 officers found the dog against a bulkhead trying to stay above water by clinging to a crossbeam.  Officers were able to remove the dog from the water and bring it on the boat.  The dog was transported back to shore on Marine 11 and reunited with its owner.  …

Ulster County resident Shonta M. Drake, of Highland, was arrested on Wednesday, Dec. 11, after an Ulster County Sheriff's deputy, watched as she backed up in the northbound lane of Route 9W in the Town of Esopus, said Lt. Man Arrested In Connection With $6K 'Grandparent Scam,' Greenwich Police Say A 30-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly was caught retrieving a UPS package that contained the proceeds from a "grandparent scam," said the Greenwich Police.
