Drunk Man Drove Stolen Front-End Loader In Parking Lot Of Area Supermarket, Police Say A 42-year-old was arrested after he allegedly drove a front- end loader in the parking lot of an area grocery store while drunk. Paul M. Pepe, of the town of Wallkill, was arrested on Wednesday, Jan. 29, around 12:20 a.m., when the town of Wallkill Police responded to a report of an intoxicated man operating a front-end loader in the parking lot of Hannaford Supermarket in Middletown and damaged a concrete curb as he was driving away, Town of Wallkill Police said. Long Island Man Nabbed After Fleeing Traffic Stop, Hitting Patrol Cruiser, Police Say A 35-year-old Long Island man and a Nassau County Police officer were injured during a police pursuit that ended with the man being tased and arrested. Genri Palacios Acosta, of Hempstead, was arrested around 9:10 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 1, in Westbury, said the Nassau County Police. Man Trapped In Hole Airlifted To Hospital A man has been airlifted to an area hospital after being trapped in a hole on Long Island. The incident took place around 9:20 a.m., Monday, Feb. 3, on Longwood Road in Sands Point. Nassau County police said the man was rescued and is being airlifted to the hospital. 20-Year-Old Charged With DWI After Car Crashes Into Newtown House A 20-year-old man has been charged with drunk driving after allegedly crashing into a Newtown home. The incident took place just after midnight on Saturday, Feb. 1, on Church Hill Road, said the Newtown Police. The department, who said the 911 caller reported that their house had "fallen down," quickly arrived on the scene and found that the home had been struck by a Ford F-350 driven by Andrew Anglace, of Newtown, police said. Employee Charged With Stealing More Than $4K In Goods At Lowe's In Northern Westchester A 38-year-old Lowe's employee was arrested for allegedly stealing more than $4K worth of merchandise from the store in Northern Westchester where he worked. Nathaniel Dustin Dain, of Peekskill, was arrested on Thursday, Jan. 30, by police after they said they received a complaint from the Yorktown store earlier in the month. According to an investigation, Dain and an unknown individual had been stealing property during the month of October 2019 that totaled $4,146, Yorktown Police said. Man Nabbed For Pulling Renter's Scam In Greenwich, Police Say A man who had allegedly pulled a financial fraud scam on a Greenwich resident was nabbed following a lengthy investigation. The incident began in March 2019 when a Greenwich resident reported to police they had rented an out-of-state property through an on-line listing, Greenwich Police said. A person, later identified as Jelil Olawale Aboila, 23, of Newark, New Jersey, contacted the victim and agreed to rent the property. Northern Westchester Man Allegedly Put Rifle To Head Of Victim, Threatened To Pull Trigger A 65-year-old r man was arrested for allegedly pointing a rifle at the head of a victim and threatened to pull the trigger in Northern Westchester, police said. Carl J. Woodward, of Yorktown, was arrested on Monday, Jan. 27, and charged with menacing, said the Yorktown Police Department. Malfunctioning Boiler Causes Roof Fire In Westport Westport firefighters were able to quickly douse a roof fire caused by a malfunctioning boiler. The fire started around 1 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 30 at a home on Crooked Mile Road, said the Westport Fire Department. Firefighters arrived on the scene quickly and found that the fire was contained to the roof and was likely caused by the malfunctioning boiler. No injuries were reported.

Putnam Sheriff, Police Departments To Participate In Super Bowl DWI Crackdown If you plan to drink and drive over the Super Bowl weekend be warned that law enforcement across the region will be out in force. Man Nabbed For Stalking Area Woman By Hacking Online Gaming Account A man who was allegedly stalking an area woman he met through online gaming and then hacked her account was nabbed by police. The stalking came to light on Saturday, Jan. 18, when Putnam County Sheriff's Deputy Jonathan Irwin responded to a residence in the Town of Southeast for a reported unwanted person on the property.
