Police Searching For Serial Armed Robber In Area
Police are searching for an armed man who has allegedly robbed three gas station/convenience stores at gunpoint in the area.
The robberies in Orange County began on Jan. 25, with the latest taking place around 1:17 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 5, said Town of Newburgh Police Lt. James Nenni.
The suspect is described as a stocky black male, between 5-foot-10 and 6-feet tall, wearing a dark blue or black hooded sweatshirt, and dark-colored pants, Nenni said.

Ex-Boyfriend Admits To Kidnapping Westchester Woman Found Dead In Red Suitcase In Greenwich
A year to the day the body of a Westchester woman was found dead stuffed in a red suitcase in the woods of Greenwich, an ex-boyfriend pleaded guilty to kidnapping resulting in her death.
Valerie Reyes, 24, was found dead on the morning of Feb. 5, 2019, just off Glenville Road in Greenwich by a highway crew employee.
Javier E. DaSilva-Rojas, 25, pleaded guilty to the charge on Wednesday, Feb. 5, and is expected to be sentenced to at least 30 years in prison, said the Greenwich Police.

24-Year-Old Sentenced For Stabbing Death Of Another Rockland Man
A 24-year-old Rockland man has been sentenced to 22 years in prison for the brutal stabbing death of another man during an argument.
Jose Alejandro Icu-Madrid, of Spring Valley, was sentenced on Tuesday, Feb. 4, for the death of Jairo Danilo Sandoval del Cid, on Feb. 20, 2019, said Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh, II.
Ramapo Police Chief Brad Weidel said at the time of the murder, that police received a 911 call regarding a dispute at a home on Northbrook Road and that "someone was bleeding," the chief said.

ID Released For Victim Of Fatal Route 17A Crash
The person killed in a single-vehicle crash in Orange County has been identified.
Tom Walter, 28, of Warwick, was killed around 9 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 5, on Route 17A near Durland Road, in Goshen, said Orange County Sheriff's Capt. Paul Arteta.
According to Arteta, Walter, who was the lone occupant, collided with a tree in a county-owned vehicle.
He was rushed to Orange Regional Center where he was pronounced dead, he added.

Blood, Toxicology Report Leads To DUI, Other Charges For New Canaan Man Who Crashed Into Pole
A 46-year-old area man was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence and other charges after crashing into a pole.
Christian Russo, of New Canaan, was arrested on Tuesday, Feb. 4, after he surrendered himself to police on an active warrant in connection with the Dec. 10, 2019 crash, said New Canaan Lt. Jason Ferraro.
According to police, Russo allegedly hit the pole at Main Street and St. John's Place while intoxicated. A blood/toxicology test found that he was under the influence when the crash occurred.

Norwalk Salon Employee Charged With Sexually Assaulting Minor, Police Say
A 46-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a juvenile at an area hair salon.
Karoll Angelina Jurado-Hernandez, of Norwalk, was arrested on Tuesday, Feb. 4, for an incident that took place on Aug. 24, 2019, at the Khronos Beauty Salon at 250 Westport Ave., in Norwalk, said police.
An investigation by members of the Special Victims Unit found that Jurado-Hernandez, an employee of the salon, had sexually assaulted the juvenile victim while at the business, Norwalk Police Lt. Jared Zwickler said.
