Scammers Targeting Long Island Man For $8K Nabbed By Police
A quick-thinking son saved his 89-year-old Massapequa Park father from being scammed out of more than $8,000 after he received a call from alleged scammers saying his grandson was in trouble.
A female juvenile, 17, and Marte Wander, 21, of the Bronx, were arrested on Tuesday, Oct. 27, according to the Nassau County Police.
According to fraud and forgery detectives, the Seventh Precinct received a call from the son of an elderly man who believed that his dad was in the process of being scammed.

Man Nabbed For More Than A Dozen Area Residential Burglaries, Police Say
A 30-year-old Ulster County man has been arrested for more than a dozen burglaries over several months.
Eric J. Morgan, of Modena, was arrested on Tuesday, Oct. 25, following a lengthy joint investigation.
The probe was conducted by the Town of Lloyd Police, the Town New Paltz Police, the Town of Plattekill Police, the Town of Marlborough Police, and the New York State Police.

Funeral Services Announced For Longtime Police Officer Killed In Northern Westchester Crash
Funeral arrangements have been announced for a longtime Putnam County Sheriff's deputy who was killed in a double-fatal crash in Northern Westchester.
Michael J. Moore, 50, of Mahopac, was killed around 6 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 25 on Route 6N, said Yorktown Police.
When police and fire officials arrived on the scene, they found Moore, who was the driver of one of the vehicles, dead.
Denise Ryan, 56, also of Mahopac, the driver of the second vehicle, was found injured and transported to Westchester Medical Center where she succumbed to her injuries, police said.
