She worked four years at Hometown News as a general assignment reporter, then another two years at Spacecoast Daily in Cocoa Beach, Florida. Fairfield County Woman Nabbed Stealing $125 In Liquor From Store, Police Say A 37-year-old Fairfield County woman was arrested for allegedly stealing more than $125 worth of liquor from an area liquor store. Amanda Belcher, of Bridgeport, was arrested on Sunday, Oct. 25, after Milford Police responded to Wines and More at 242 Boston Post Road, in Milford on the report of a shoplifting, said the Milford Police. Belcher had left the scene but was located a short time later and arrested and charged with larceny, and a number of motor vehicle violations. She was released on a promise to appear ticket.

Covid-19: School In Area Goes To Remote Learning After Positive Case A school in the area has returned to remote learning for at least 24 hours after a person tested positive for COVID-19. According to the Wappingers Central School District, the person associated with Gayhead Elementary School in Hopewell Junction tested positive for COVID on Sunday, Oct. 25, and is currently in isolation. The school's building and custodial staff to deep clean and disinfect the building on Thursday, Oct. 29. Covid-19: Communicable Disease Clinic In Fairfield County Closes Temporarily Due To Two Cases The Fairfield County Communicable Disease Clinic announced its temporary closure after two city employees tested positive for COVID-19. Health Director Lisa Morrisey said the closure follows quarantine and isolation protocols to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 within the offices and among personnel. Contact tracing has begun and is extended to visitors of the clinic located at 752 East Main Street in Bridgeport, that may have been affected, Morrisey said. DEA Agent Shoots Man While Attempting To Serve Gun-Related Federal Warrant At Rockland Hotel One person was shot by a Drug Enforcement Administration agent as the agency attempted to serve a federal warrant on two suspects at a Rockland County hotel. The shooting took place just after 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28 outside the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, at 425 E Rt. 59 in Nanuet as agents, along with members of the New York Drug Task Enforcement Task Force, attempted to execute the warrant associated with an ongoing gun-related investigation, said Erin L. Scammers Targeting Long Island Man For $8K Nabbed By Police A quick-thinking son saved his 89-year-old Massapequa Park father from being scammed out of more than $8,000 after he received a call from alleged scammers saying his grandson was in trouble. A female juvenile, 17, and Marte Wander, 21, of the Bronx, were arrested on Tuesday, Oct. 27, according to the Nassau County Police. Police Asking For Help Identifying Alleged Fairfield County Robbery Suspect Detectives are asking the public for help identifying a man who allegedly assaulted an 80-year-old man and stole money from the victim in Fairfield County. Two Women Accused Of Stealing $380 In Merchandise From Boscov’s In Milford Two area women were nabbed with $380 worth of goods they allegedly stole from Boscov’s in Milford. Monica Santos, 34, and Maria Rodriguez, 34, both of Bridgeport, were charged with larceny and conspiracy to commit larceny after being caught on Thursday, Oct. 22, said the Milford Police. The women were arrested after Milford Police responded to the store at 1201 Boston Post Road, on a report of shoplifting. An investigation led to the arrest of Santos and Rodriguez who were later released on a promise to appear ticket.

Man Nabbed For More Than A Dozen Area Residential Burglaries, Police Say A 30-year-old Ulster County man has been arrested for more than a dozen burglaries over several months. Eric J. Morgan, of Modena, was arrested on Tuesday, Oct. 25, following a lengthy joint investigation. The probe was conducted by the Town of Lloyd Police, the Town New Paltz Police, the Town of Plattekill Police, the Town of Marlborough Police, and the New York State Police. Vista Fire Department Hosts Halloween Event To Hep Burglarized Businesses Firefighters are hosting a special fundraising event to assist several area businesses that were recently burglarized and are asking the public for help. Funeral Services Announced For Longtime Police Officer Killed In Northern Westchester Crash Funeral arrangements have been announced for a longtime Putnam County Sheriff's deputy who was killed in a double-fatal crash in Northern Westchester. Michael J. Moore, 50, of Mahopac, was killed around 6 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 25 on Route 6N, said Yorktown Police. When police and fire officials arrived on the scene, they found Moore, who was the driver of one of the vehicles, dead.
