Man Killed After Being Hit By Lirr Train A man was killed after being hit by a train on Long Island. The incident took place around 10 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 115, when a Ronkonkoma-bound train fatally struck a male at the Long Island Railroad Carle Place station, said Aaron Donovan, spokesman for the MTA. Train service through the area resumed at 10:38 p.m. with residual delays on one of the tracks and was on-or-close to schedule by 12:15 a.m.  The person has not been identified. Stamford Man Charged With Reckless Endangerment After Pistol Stolen From Car, Police Say A 29-year-old man who reported that his handgun had been stolen out of his unlocked vehicle has been charged with reckless endangerment in Fairfield County. Tyler Burchard, of Stamford, reported that his 9mm Smith & Wesson semiautomatic pistol was stolen last week out of the unlocked center console of his car, which parked in the driveway of his home, said Stamford Police Capt. Richard Conklin said. Burchard was also charged with the unsafe storage of a firearm in a vehicle, Conklin said. He was released after posting a $5,000 bond. Police Issue Alert For Holiday Tip Scam Police are warning residents that a new holiday scam is asking residents in the area to tip their garbage crews by leaving money in envelopes. The Stamford Police Department said the envelopes are being left in mailboxes requesting tips to be sent to a P.O. Box in Norwalk. "These are not from The City of Stamford employees," the department said.  If you use a private garbage company ask them if they put anything in your mailbox for tips before sending any money out.

23-Year-Old Issued Nine Tickets After Operating Unregistered Dirt Bike On Route 17, Police Say A Rockland County resident was issued nine tickets and other moving violations for operating a dirt bike with no headlights. The 23-year-old Nanuet man was arrested on Sunday, Dec. 13, after Ramapo Police responded to Route 17 for an unregistered dirt bike driving with no lights, police said. The unidentified man was arrested and charged with obstructing governmental administration and issued nine tickets and various moving and equipment violations. He was released on his own recognizance and will appear in Sloatsburg Village Court at a future date.

Man Nabbed With Resident's Stolen Credit Cards, iPad, Apple Watch In Wilton, Police Say Police nabbed a man on identity theft following a traffic stop for expired vehicle registration. Amir Kitale Williams, 26, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was arrested on Sunday, Dec. 13, by Wilton Police after he was stopped in a 2019 Nissan Rogue who's registration was showing expired, police said. During the traffic stop, a strong odor of marijuana resulted in a search of the vehicle.
