Raging Fire Displaces Two Area Families One Day After Christmas Two families were left homeless one day after Christmas due to a raging house fire. The fire took place around 2:32 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 26 in Orange County at 118 Plains Road in Walden. The first responding Walden units, along with the Coldenham and Wallkill Fire departments, found heavy fire showing from the front of a two-story two-family home, said the Walden Fire Department. Questions Surround Sudden Closures Of Bank Of America Branches In Fairfield County A busy bank in the area has temporarily closed several locations, announcing the news in a message on its door and its website. Currently, branch offices of Bank of America in Norwalk, New Canaan, Westport, Stamford, Greenwich, and Ridgefield, have been closed, according to the company website. Nine Displaced After House Fire Breaks Out In Fairfield County A Fairfield County house fire has left six adults and three children displaced. The fire broke out around 9:15 a.m., Monday, Dec. 28, at the home located in the 1,000-block of North Avenue in Bridgeport. The first responding units reported fire visible on the second floor of the home. All occupants were out on arrival, Bridgeport Director of Emergency Management Scott Appleby said. The victim was discovered around 3 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 27, when police responded to a report of gunshots fired near 644 Norman Street. LI Social Services Employee Accused Of Fraudulently Obtaining Benefits For Family Members A Long Island Department of Social Services employee has been arrested for allegedly fraudulently obtaining benefits for her family members. Paola Masi, 30, of Patchogue, was arrested on Tuesday, Dec. 22, for allegedly using her position to steal more than $5,000 in benefits for family members, said Suffolk County District Attorney Timothy Sini. Man Shot, Killed While Working At CT Store A 27-year-old is behind bars after allegedly shooting another man to death at an area tire store. The victim was killed while at work around 8:50 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 26, in New Haven County at Town Fair Tire, 63 Boston Post Road in Orange, said the Orange Police Department.
