Man Drives Through Garage Wall, Into Basement, Hits Furnance, Monroe Fire Department Says
A driver accidentally drove through the wall of his garage and into the basement, authorities said.
The incident took place in Fairfield County on Wednesday, Jan. 6, in Monroe at a home on lower Wheeler Road, said the Monroe Volunteer Fire Department.
When the vehicle landed in the basement it hit the furnace, causing firefighters to secure the electrical, water line, and heating oil spill hazards.

Man Charged With Attempting To Rob Long Island TD Bank Branch, Police Say
A man has been arrested for allegedly robbing a Long Island TD Bank.
Tyrell Guthrie, 33, of Hempstead, was arrested on Thursday, Jan. 7, in Hempstead, said the Nassau County Police.
According to detectives, Guthrie entered the TD Bank, at 252 Peninsula Blvd., approached a teller, and demanded money before fleeing the bank on foot without any proceeds.
No injuries were reported.
Guthrie was apprehended by police a short distance away from the bank.
He was charged with robbery and issued an appearance ticket returnable to appear in court on Wednesday, Jan. 27.
Covid- 19: CT Flu Cases Plummet Amid Pandemic
As COVID-19 cases continue to increase, health officials in Connecticut are reporting a lower than the normal number of flu cases.
On Friday, Jan. 8, the state Department of Public Health released the state's latest flu numbers which showed that, as of Saturday, Jan. 2, only 32 people had tested positive for flu in the state.
Of the 32, 11 people were hospitalized and only one person died, said officials with the Connecticut Department of Public Health.

Audi A4 Stolen In Rockland County Recovered, Returned To Owner, Police Say
A stolen vehicle from Rockland County was recovered in New Jersey with help from several police agencies.
The vehicle, an Audi A4 was stolen in South Nyack on Tuesday, Jan. 5, from the driveway of a home on Glen Bryon Avenue, said South Nyack-Grand View Police Chief Daniel Wilson.
Later Tuesday afternoon, Wilson said the vehicle, which was allegedly unlocked when stolen, was recovered in Jersey City, New Jersey, and, after processing, was returned to the owner.

Ambulance Corps President In Rockland Accused Of Stealing $70K From Organization, DA Says
The president of an ambulance corps in Rockland County has been indicted for allegedly stealing more than $70,000 from the organization.
Sloatsburg Volunteer Ambulance Corps President Matthew Gannon, age 53, was indicted by a grand jury on Thursday, Jan. 7, said Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh.
Gannon was charged with stealing funds from the ambulance corps while serving as president of the organization after a multi-agency investigation, the DA's Office said.

Man Accused Of Exposing, Touching Himself At Long Island Park, Police Say
A man has been arrested for two alleged incidents of public lewdness at a Long Island park.
Ronald Zembko, age 72, of Locust Valley, was arrested on Thursday, Jan. 7, for two events that took place on Monday, Dec. 28, and again on Saturday, Jan. 2, said the Nassau County Police.
According to detectives, Zembko was purposely exposed while touching himself inside his vehicle parked at Center Island Park, 100 Center Island Park, where he was witnessed by two male victims, both 19 years old, on Jan. 2.
