Man Nabbed With Stolen Loaded Handgun, Pot, During LI Traffic Stop, Police Say
A Long Island man has been arrested for alleged possession of a stolen loaded handgun and marijuana.
Suffolk County resident Vernon Thornton, age 32, of Wyandanch, was arrested in Merrick around 8:20 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 26, after detectives working a special detail aimed against opioids sale and use, after he was pulled over for traffic violations, said the Nassau County Police.

Police Asking For Help Identifying Man Associated With Package Theft At Long Island Apartment
Police are asking the public for help identifying a man wanted in connection with larceny at a Long Island apartment house.
Nassau County Police said the incident took place on Wednesday, Dec. 30, in Mineola.
According to detectives, a resident, who rents an apartment above an Old Country Road storefront, between Geranium Avenue and Juniper Avenue, received an email regarding a package that was delivered to his address.

LI Plow Driver Nabbed For DWI After Almost Hitting Marine Bureau Officer's Vehicle, Police Say
A Long Island man was arrested after allegedly driving his pickup truck with a plow attacked while intoxicated almost hitting a Marine Bureau vehicle.
Deyvi Castillo-Chavarria, age 30, of Oyster Bay, was arrested around 12:30 p.m., Monday, Feb. 1, following the incident in Oyster Bay, said the Nassau County Police.
According to officers, while traveling southbound on Route 106, in their unmarked vehicle, Marine Bureau officers encountered an oncoming Dodge Ram, with its plow attached, swerving into their lane of traffic, narrowing missing their vehicle, police said.

Fairfield County Man Arrested After Selling Xanax To Undercover Officer, Police Say
A Fairfield County man accused of selling prescription Xanax pills was arrested following an investigation.
Charlee Lora-Rodriguez, age 29, of Greenwich, was arrested on Friday, Jan. 29, after the Greenwich Police Narcotics Section conducted an investigation into suspected drug sales by Lora-Rodriguez, Captain Mark E. Zuccerella said.
During the investigation, Lora-Rodriguez sold Xanax to an undercover officer, which resulted in a warrant being granted for his arrest, Zuccerella said.
