22-Year-Old Accused Of Damaging Vehicle, Hitting Victim With Rock In Area, Police Say
An area man was arrested in connection with a domestic incident in which he allegedly damaged a vehicle and struck the victim with a rock.
Orange County resident Colleam Small, age 22, of Middletown, was arrested around 4:30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 30, when the New York State Police responded to a home in the town of Deerpark for a domestic dispute, said Trooper Steven Nevel.
An investigation found that Small caused damage to a 1998 Mercedes Benz and struck the victim in the head with a rock, Nevel said.

Officer Bit By Individual During Medical Call In Area
A man who had a bad reaction to PCP was arrested after biting a police officer while resisting going to a hospital to receive help.
The incident took place around 10:38 p.m., Friday, Jan. 29, in Orange County when City of Newburgh officers were dispatched to the area of 165 Chambers St. for a naked male running down the street, Lieutenant Brandon Rola said.
Officers arrived on the scene and found a man, later identified as Lamel Johnson, address unknown, lying on the sidewalk, with his pants around his ankles, and a citizen attempting to assist him, Rola said.

Patient Accused Of Assaulting Staffer At Hospital In Fairfield County
A Fairfield County man was arrested for allegedly attacking an area hospital employee and making threats.
Brian Dougherty, age 51, of Stamford, was arrested around 3:30 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 30, after Greenwich Police Officers responded to Greenwich Hospital, authorities said.
Dougherty assaulted a member of the hospital staff and made threats, said Greenwich PD Capt. Mark E. Zuccerella.
He was charged with assaulting a public health worker, threatening, and disorderly conduct.
Dougherty was held on a $10,000 bond which he was unable to post.
Covid- 19: Fdny Member From Long Island Who Responded On 9/11 Dies From Virus
A New York City firefighter from Long Island who responded to Ground Zero on 9/11 has died from COVID-19.
The department announced on Sunday, Jan. 31, that Firefighter Joseph A. Ferrugia, age 61, of Massapequa, was the first active-duty firefighter to die from the virus.
A 30-year veteran of the department, joining the FDNY in October 1990, assigned to Ladder Company 142 in Queens, Ferrugia has twice been cited for bravery, the department said.

Woman, 38, Accused Of Viciously Attacking Two On Long Island, Police Say
A Long Island woman was arrested for allegedly attacking two people during two separate incidents causing severe injuries to both victims.
According to detectives, the first incident took place on Saturday, May 18, 2019, at 1:20 p.m. Fanny Oviedo-Canales, age 38, of Hempstead, followed a woman, 28, into a stairwell located on 590 Fulton Ave., in Hempstead and punched the victim in the face, said the Nassau County Police.
While being verbally abusive the defendant also scratched the victim's face, causing bruising, scratches, and substantial pain, police said.
