Suspicious Package Outside Sain Building Turns Out To Be Greeting Cards A suspicious package that was found outside of the Sain Building in New City turned out to a box of greeting cards, said the Rockland County Sheriff's Office. The incident took place around 12:43 p.m., Thursday, at 18 New Hempstead Road, when the box fell off a UPS truck making deliveries, said Chief William Barbera. The department's bomb squad and bomb dog responded to make sure the contents were not explosive, police said. "The box was supposed to delivered to a store in New City," Barbera said

Route 17K Head-On Crash Victim Identified A 22-year-old man who was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Route 17K in Orange County as he fled from police has been identified by state police. Louis F. Williams of Walden died on the scene of the crash which took place around 8:32 a.m., Tuesday, in the Town of Montgomery, when he failed to stop for a Town of Crawford police officer who was attempting to stop him, said Trooper Steven Nevel. Snow's On The Way: Peekskill Winter Parking Goes Into Effect With snow on the way, alternate side of the street parking rules have been canceled and winter parking regulations are now in force, according to the City of Peekskill Police Department. The Department of Public Works and the Police Department made the decision to implement the winter rules after reviewing the weather forecast which is calling for measurable snow on Saturday, the department said. Man Busted For Numerous Commercial Burglaries In Beacon A man was apprehended in connection with a series of commercial burglaries following an investigation, according to Beacon Police. Michael Stewart, 50, of Niagara, was identified as the suspect in the burglaries and was apprehended without incident on Wednesday, said Lt. Lou Lucato. In addition, Stewart was wanted on two active warrant out of Niagara for violation of his parole, Lucato added. Northwell Health, Cigna OK New Agreement Cigna policyholders worried Northwell hospitals and physicians would no longer accept their insurance, can breathe a sigh of relief now that the two have reached an agreement to continue their 20-year relationship. In an announced on Thursday, Northwell said it had reached the agreement keeping all Northwell hospitals, physicians, laboratories, home health and other providers in the Cigna network. Rhinebeck Woman Charged With Stealing $23K In Welfare Benefits DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. -- A Rhinebeck woman was nabbed for ripping off more than $23,000 in welfare benefits following an investigation by the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office. Stony Point Woman Fights Officers, Striking One In Face, Police Say ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- A 48-year-old Rockland woman became violent and fought with police, striking one officer in the face, as she was in the process of being arrested Wednesday for disorderly conduct, according to Stony Point Police.
