She spent 17 years at Florida Today in Melbourne, Florida as a general assignment reporter, crime reporter, entertainment reporter and restaurant critic. She worked four years at Hometown News as a general assignment reporter, then another two years at Spacecoast Daily in Cocoa Beach, Florida. Suspect Arrested For 2017 Fatal Hit-Run Crash In Fairfield County The Bridgeport Police Traffic Division have made an arrest in the fatal hit and run accident that took the life of 81-year-old Gasper Esteves of Bridgeport in 2017. Esteves was standing outside of his Ford Ranger in front of his sister's house on Arlington Street when he was struck by a Volkswagen Passat on June 25, said Av Harris, spokesman for the Bridgeport Police Department. The driver failed to stop and fled the scene. Esteves was transported to St Vincent's Hospital in critical condition and was pronounced dead a few hours later, police said. Citizen's Police Academy Applications Being Accepted In Greenwich For those interested in what it takes to be a police officer, or to just learn more about your local department, the Greenwich Police Department is hosting its Spring 2018 Citizen's Police Academy. The six-week program begins April 16 and meets twice a week on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the police department. One Saturday class will also be held on May 5 from 9 a.m. to noon. Stamford Van Driver Charged In Pedestrian Death Stamford Police have charged a work van driver with second-degree manslaughter in the death of Lynette Wagner, of Fairfield, while she was walking across Elm Street on her way to work in January. Rockland Sheriff Warns Of New Telephone Scam The Rockland County Sheriff's office is warning Rockland County residents about a new round of telephone scams in which the callers are pretending to be calling on behalf of the sheriff's office. According to Chief William Barbera, the caller's say that a warrant has been issued and if the person does not pay an amount of money the Sheriff's Office will arrest them. Two-County Police Chase Ends With Jeep Crashing Into Rock Wall Of House A two-county police chase in Westchester and Rockland ended when the drunken driver of the vehicle smashed into a rock wall in front of an area home, police said. The chase took place around 11 p.m. Wednesday when New York State Police attempted to stop a Queens man on I-87 in the town of Greenburgh, said Trooper Michael Cassella. New Canaan Teen Charged With Leaving Scene Of Crash A New Canaan teen was busted for leaving the scene of an crash after police were able to track him down. Maharshee Roy,19, was arrested around 10:15 p.m. Wednesday after New Canaan Police responded to the 800 block of North Wilton Road for a report of a motor vehicle crash, said Lt. Jason Ferraro. Man Charged With Stiffing Client For $1,100 In Carmel This story has been updated.An area man was nabbed for taking money to perform flooring work and then never doing the job, according to the Carmel Police Department. Martin Dyckman, 46, of Poughkeepsie, was recently arrested by Carmel Police following an investigation into a larceny, police said.
