Some Power Outages Reported In Fairfield County Some Schools Now Closed After Earlier Scheduling Delays Scattered power outages are reported across Fairfield County as several inches of snow accumulated across the area during the morning commute. As of 8:30 a.m. Monday, Eversource is reporting 207 outages in Weston and 38 in Westport. Crews are working to repair the outages, the company said. The quick-moving storm is expected to wind down late in the morning Monday, with up to 5 inches of snowfall accumulation possible in some spots. After-Hours Work Email Ban May Become Law In NYC For those sick of having to check work-related emails after hours, help might be on the way. Proposed legislation in New York City would make it illegal for employees to check their work emails after regular work hours, according to Fox Business. Roadway Removal Scheduled Near New TZB Westchester Landing Motorists should be prepared for northbound lane closures and delays as Tappan Zee Constructors (TZC) begin preparation work next week to remove roadway sections of I-87/I-287 near the new bridge’s Westchester landing. The closures will allow TZC to install new precast concrete slabs in the coming weeks. New York Will Now Get $100M A Year From Opioid Manufacturers The New York State Senate took opioid manufacturers to task Friday, approving a measure requiring all companies who manufacture or sell opioids in the state to split a $100 million annually to help pay for treatment costs. The surcharge, included in the state's $168.5 billion budget, will help cover the costs of the state-funded drug and alcohol and treatment programs. Sheriff: Fairfield County Woman Driving Without Lights On Faces DWI Charge A Fairfield County woman was busted by Putnam County Sheriff's deputies for DWI after they spotted her driving without lights. Mary K. Villaverde, 63, of Brookfield was arrested around 2:20 a.m., Saturday, March 24, when Deputy Sheriff Joseph Sadowski observed a car on Main Street in the Village of Brewster without any lights on and crossing into the oncoming lane of traffic, the department said. Greenwich Police To Swear In New Officer Chief James Heavey has announced that the Greenwich Police Department has hired a new officer to fill a vacancy created by recent retirements. Man Found Dead At Storm King Mountain State Park This story has been updated. The body of a man was found dead in the Storm King Mountain State Park in Orange County on Friday, according to state park officials. Officials said there was no indication of suspicious circumstances surrounding the middle-aged man's death, said Randy Simons, spokesperson for the New York State Parks.
