Sister, Brother Caught In Stamford Drug Bust Police busted a brother and sister duo for dealing and other drug-related charges during a raid on the family home by the department's Narcotics and Organized Crime Squad. Man Who Crashed Into Pole In Northern Westchester Was Impaired, Police Say A Cortlandt man was charged with driving while high on drugs after crashing into a utility pole, according to New York State Police. Michael L. Wyskida, 30, was charged around 6:30 p.m. Sunday, April 1, with felony driving while ability impaired by drugs with a prior conviction within 10 years after troopers observed his vehicle collide with a utility pole, said Spokesman Trooper AJ Hicks. An investigation determined that Wyskida was under the influence of drugs and was arrested. He was issued traffic tickets and released with a court date of April 16.

Quick Work Of Firefighters Saves South Salem Home Quick action by firefighters from the Vista and South Salem fire departments saved a family's home following a basement fire. The fire started around 8:15 p.m. Tuesday at 87 East St., in South Salem, according to Vista Fire Chief Jeff Peck.  Once on scene, firefighters found smoke showing from inside the home and quickly determined the fire was coming from the basement. Construction Worker Struck, Killed In Goshen A 58-year-old construction worker was struck and killed by a vehicle on Route 207 in Orange County while cleaning up from a paving job, according to the New York State Police. James Demmer of Monticello was struck around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday near 3317 Route 207 in Goshen by an unidentified person driving a 2016 Journey, said New York State Police Spokesman Steven Nevel.
