Man Caught With Heroin At Motel In Orange County A man suffering from the effects of an overdose of heroin was busted with more than four ounces after Wallkill Police arrived on scene to help. The event took place Thursday, May 17 at the Middletown Motel, according to Wallkill Police Chief Robert Hertman. Officers Dane Wakefield and Octavio Falto arrested Paul Alexander, 57, of Rock Hill, after an investigation led to the discovery of the more than four ounces of heroin, the chief said. Three Separate Fires Break Out In Fairfield Fairfield firefighters were on a run all day Wednesday responding to three fires in under eight hours in addition to EMS and alarm calls. The fire calls started with a call at 12:52 p.m., to a fire on the third floor of a home on Toilsome Hill Road, said Chief Kyran Dunn. Responding firefighters found an attic fire they were able to extinguish with damage limited to the attic area, the chief said. New City Man Threatens Nyack Hospital Worker With Knife, Police Say A New City man has been arrested for threatening a Nyack Hospital worker with a knife, according to Orangetown Police. Stephen A. Luccheses, 41, was arrested around 2:30 a.m. Monday after police responded to Nyack Hospital in regards to a report of a patient threatening staff, said Sgt. Joseph Sullivan. Hospital staff told police that Lucchese threatened a staff member with a knife and allegedly displayed the knife in a threatening manner, Sullivan said. Prayer Service Of Hope Scheduled For Missing Mahopac Brothers A memorial service will be held for two Mahopac brothers who remain missing following a hunting accident in which their SUV overturned in a rushing river in Idaho. The men, Mahopac High School graduates Raymond Ferrieri, 24, and his 21-year-old brother, Jesse, went missing May 21 when the SUV they were riding in overturned in the Selway River which is located in the wilds of Idaho. Six men were in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Two of the men were able to escape uninjured and returned to a hunting camp for help, said Idaho County Sheriff Doug Giddings. Teen Arrested At Greenwich High For Reckless Driving After High-Speed Chase A teen who took police on a high-speed chase turned himself into police at Greenwich High School, according to the Greenwich Police. Police served a warrant on Glen Ragin, 19, of Greenwich on Thursday in connection with the chase that took place on Dec. 28, said Lt. John Slusarz. Man Nabbed For Robbery, Threatening Adams Fairacre Farms Employee A Poughkeepsie man was nabbed on robbery charges after he shoplifted and then threatened an employee saying he had a gun, according to Town of Poughkeepsie Police. Search Called Off For Missing Mahopac Brothers After SUV Crashes Into River The search has been canceled for four men, including two Mahopac brothers, who have been missing for more than a week after their SUV crashed in the whipping waters of a river in Idaho. Three-Alarm Fire Destroys Old Newburgh Lumberyard A three-alarm fire in Orange County destroyed three building of the old Newburgh lumberyard in addition to damaging two other buildings, according to the Newburgh Fire Department. Fire Chief Terry Ahlers said the department received the first call on the fire at located at Carpenter Avenue and First Street, around 10:40 a.m. Wednesday and the first crews arrived on scene within about two minutes. Three Nabbed In Attempted Bank Fraud In Greenwich Three people were nabbed by Greenwich police for attempting to defraud a bank in Old Greenwich. Police believe the May 23 arrests of Michael Somal, 56; Andrew Mejia, 29, and Tynika Johnson, 25, all of New York City, for attempting to withdraw money from the Chase Bank on South Beach Avenue, were part of a larger network of people who use stolen documents to withdraw money from area banks.
