Poughkeepsie House Fire Displaces Family Of Four A two-alarm fire in the City of Poughkeepsie displaced three children and one adult, according to the City of Poughkeepsie Fire Department. Firefighters received notice of the fire around 11:38 a.m. Wednesday at 22 Bement Ave., said City of Poughkeepsie Fire Chief Mark Johnson. The fire, which started in a second-floor bathroom fan, was contained to the room of origin, the chief said. Northern Westchester Teacher, Coach On Paid Leave Dies At 36 A 36-year-old track coach and social studies teacher at a high school in Northern Westchester has died. The death of Matthew Ketterer, a member of the faculty at Horace Greeley High School, was announced in an email from the Chappaqua Central School District. Ketterer has been on paid leave since allegations came to light last year of an "inappropriate" relationship with a former student. Mosquitoes In Fairfield County Test Positive For West Nile Virus The season's first West Nile Virus-positive mosquitoes have been found in Fairfield County in a batch of mosquitoes trapped June 19. Raging Fire Heavily Damages Home In Fairfield County A Trumbull home was heavily damaged Tuesday during a blaze that firefighters at first thought a resident was trapped inside. The blaze was reported to the Trumbull Center Fire Department around 3:45 p.m. Tuesday at 14 Chatham Drive for a possible structure fire, said officials with the Trumbull Volunteer Fire Company No. 1. Gardener Strikes Man In Dispute Over Parked Car In Greenwich, Police Say A gardener who lives in Stamford was arrested for attacking another man during a dispute over a parked vehicle in Greenwich. Hudson Valley Man, 28, Killed In Motorcycle Crash A 28-year-old motorcyclist died after being hit by another vehicle in the Hudson Valley late Tuesday afternoon. The crash occurred around 3:54 p.m. Tuesday on Route 17 in Orange County, said Tuxedo Police Officer Girard Shiloh. According to Shiloh, the man died at the scene near the intersection with Arden Valley Road after a teenager from New Jersey who was traveling southbound, turned onto Arden Valley Road in front of the motorcycle, ejecting the driver onto the roadway. Driver In Fatal Fiery Westchester Crash Charged With DWI A New Rochelle man has been charged with DWI in the fatal crash that killed his passenger on Saturday. Alan Roth, 63, who was also injured in the crash, was charged with a misdemeanor count of driving while intoxicated, said New Rochelle Police Capt. Cosmo Costa. The crash occurred around 10 p.m. Saturday on Pinebrook Boulevard, a residential street just east of New Rochelle High School. One Killed In Single-Car Dutchess Crash One person died in a single-vehicle crash on Shunpike Road in the town of Washington, according to the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office. The crash occurred around 9 a.m. Tuesday after the unidentified driver of a 2007 Honda Accord traveling westbound on Shunpike Road near Kennels Road lost control of the vehicle, said Capt. Wappingers Falls Three-Alarm Fire Destroys Home Numerous fire departments are on the scene of a three-alarm blaze at a two-and-half story home in Wappingers Falls that has caused extensive damage. According to officials, the fire started around 2:30 p.m. at 60 Huber Road in Chelsea and quickly spread to a three-alarm blaze. Chelsea Fire District, Castle Point, Glenham, City Of Beacon, Hughsonville and Village of Fishkill FAST Team are on the scene. There are no reports of any injuries. This is a developing story.
