Tomkins Cove Man Nabbed With Pills, No License, Police Say A 54-year-old area man was arrested for alleged possession of drugs after being stopped for an unsecured license plate.  Eric Halstead, of Tomkins Cove, was arrested Friday, Aug. 10 when a Stony Point Police officer stopped him on Bayview Drive after noticing an unsecured rear license plate, said Lt. Daniel Hylas. Upon further investigation, police found that Halstead was driving with a revoked license and was in possession of 8.5 alprazolam pills, which were located in an unmarked pill bottle, Hylas said. Two-Alarm Fire Prompts Evacuation At Orange County Sewage Treatment Plant Fire companies from numerous Orange County fire departments are on the scene of a two-alarm fire at the Highland Falls sewage treatment plant. The fire was reported around 12:20 p.m. Wednesday at the plant located at 95 Rose Drive, just east of Main Street in the village of Highland Falls, police said. There was a brief evacuation for safety purposes, but has since been lifted, the police department said. Hasan T. Fleming of Bridgeport was arrested Tuesday after he failed to stop for a Fairfield Police officer conducting a routine traffic stop in the area of Commerce Drive and Coolidge Street, said Fairfield Police Lt. Hudson Valley Swim Coach Sentenced In Child Sex Case David "Skip" Storch, a well-known Hudson Valley long-distance swimmer with his own Wikipedia page, was sentenced to seven years in prison for sexually abusing a young girl beginning when she was 10 years old.  Storch, 60, of New City, bursts into tears and called himself a coward during the sentencing on Tuesday for abusing the child between June 2008 and December 2011 in South Nyack. Man Strikes Victim In Face During Argument In Greenwich, Police Say A Greenwich man was arrested by police for allegedly hitting another person in the face during an argument. Lloyd Cooke, 51, was arrested around 11:50 p.m. Monday after police responded to a home on Quarry Knoll for a report of an altercation, said Greenwich Police Lt. John Slusarz. When officers arrived on the scene they found that Cooke had hit the victim in the face during an argument. Cooke was given a misdemeanor summons and is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 28.

'Suspicious Incident' Under Investigation After Body Found In Fairfield County The body of a woman found covered in blood is being considered a "suspicious incident" by Bridgeport Police. The woman, who was found around 3 p.m. Monday in a two-story duplex on Pearl Harbor Street, according to News 12.  Officials said family members discovered her lying in a pool of blood, News12 said. Police consider the death "suspicious" due to the evidence at the home which suggest a struggle and signs of trauma. An autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday, News12 said.
