Free Scam Prevention Seminar Scheduled In Putnam
With a host of elderly scams taking place across the region, two free, public seminars will be held next week to help elders avoid becoming victims.Held by Sen. Sue Serino, chairman of the state Senate Aging Committee, along with the Department of State, the two seminars will be held from in Putnam Valley and Hopewell Junction.
The first seminar will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19 at the Putnam Valley Senior Center, 117 Town Park Lane, in Putnam Valley.
The second seminar will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20 at the East Fishkill Community Center, 890 Route 82 in Hopewell Junction.

Pair Caught Stealing TV From Area Hotel, Police Say
Two area men were arrested by police after being caught burglarizing a hotel room.
Monticello police arrested Glen Flickenschild, 44, and Joseph Tomasulo, 29, both of Monticello were arrested Friday, Sept. 14, and charged with felony burglary and petit larceny, according to Lt. Mark Johnstone.
According to Johnstone, the two were arrested following an investigation into the burglary of a room located at the Heritage Inn on Broadway in the Village of Monticello on Sept. 9, police said.

HBO Series Films In Hudson Valley
If you blinked you might have missed it, but stars from the HBO series "High Maintenance" were in the Hudson Valley on Wednesday to film some scenes.
The series, starring creator and lead character, Ben Sinclair, was in different spots throughout the town and city of Poughkeepsie to film scenes for the show about a bike-riding, marijuana deliveryman, with a funny cast of clients.
In its third season, the scenes filmed Wednesday included Pete's Famous Restaurant, Mill House Brewing Company, and Emiliano's.

Off-Duty Uber Driver Caught With Gun, Drugs In Stamford, Police Say
An off-duty Uber driver was busted with cocaine, marijuana, and a gun after Narc Squad agents received a tip that he would be in the area delivering drugs.
Fernando " Sosa" Rodriguez, 27, of Danbury, was arrested around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday when officers with the Narcotics and Organized Crime squad received a tip that he would be making a drop in the area on Wardwell Street, said Stamford Police Capt. Richard Conklin.
