She spent 17 years at Florida Today in Melbourne, Florida as a general assignment reporter, crime reporter, entertainment reporter and restaurant critic. She worked four years at Hometown News as a general assignment reporter, then another two years at Spacecoast Daily in Cocoa Beach, Florida. She attended Eastern Florida State College in Melbourne, Florida.

Spook Rock Road Crash Brings Down Power Lines A crash on Spook Rock Road closed the roadway for several hours after a utility pole was struck, causing power lines to fall. The incident took place Thursday afternoon at the intersection of Spook Rock Road and Grandview Avenue, police said. Utility crews were called in to repair the pole and wires.

'Inexperienced' Teen Driver Crashes Into Parked Cars, Building At Bard College A teen who hit two parked cars and then slammed into a building at Bard College was an "inexperienced" driver, police said. The incident took place 11 p.m. Tuesday when the Red Hook Police Department responded to a 911 call reporting a ca into a building on Robbins Road at the college in Annandale-on-Hudson, Red Hook Police said. Upon arrival, police found that the 19-year-old Georgia man had driven through a parking lot, striking two parked unoccupied vehicles then reversed the vehicle which went through an unoccupied building. Police Investigating Report Of Shots Fired In Northern Westchester State police are on the scene of a report of shots fired in the Cortlandt area. The incident took place around 9:30 a.m. Friday at 101 Dogwood Road according to a 911 call made to New York State Police, said Trooper AJ Hicks, "We have troopers are on scene but the person who made the 911 call is not being cooperative," said Hicks. Hicks said a report that officers are looking for a black vehicle in connection with the case, has not been confirmed. This is a developing story. Check back to Daily Voice for updates.

Woman Killed In Wrong-Way Crash That Leads To Hours-Long I-91 Closure A 27-year old woman was killed in a head-on collision while driving the wrong way overnight on northbound I-91. Katherine Gavidia of Hamden was killed just before midnight Thursday near Exit 8 in New Haven, said Connecticut State Police. An accident report provided by the state police said Gavidia was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu south when she drove head-on into a Chevy Silverado driven by Thomas Murray, 29, of Cheshire. Both drivers were trapped in their vehicles and had to be extricated, the state police said. Gavidia was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, the report said. …

Popular High School English Teacher ID'd As Missing Person Found Dead In Cheshire A woman found dead shortly after she was reported missing has been identified as a much-beloved teacher at Cheshire High School. Megumi Yamamoto, 48, the head of the school’s English Department, was reported missing Wednesday around 5:17 p.m. to Cheshire police in the area of Mixville Road by Marion Avenue, said the state police. After an on-scene investigation, Yamamoto' body was located about a half-mile from her home, near where she had been reported missing, they added. Man Nabbed After Beating Employee, Attempting To Rob Port Jervis Business A 32-year-old local man is behind bars after allegedly attacking a store employee while attempting to rob the business. David Strobeck of Port Jervis was arrested Monday and charged with felony attempted robbery and assault, said Port Jervis Police Chief William Worden. According to police, Strobeck is accused of entering the business at 80 Front St. in the City of Port Jervis, around 9:46 a.m. Monday, and assaulting a store employee while attempting to open and steal the contents of the establishment’s cash drawer. Two Injured In Overnight Bridgeport Shooting Bridgeport Police are investigating an overnight shooting that left two people injured. The shooting took place around 11:15 p.m. Thursday on Harral Avenue where a person was grazed by a bullet on their shoulder, said Av Harris, director of Legislative Affairs/Public Policy for the Bridgeport Arriving officers found the victim at 548 Harral Ave. Police said a possible vehicle involved was described as a black Toyota which fled south on Center Street. More Americans Believe Christine Blasey Ford, Marist Poll Finds Nearly half of Americans believe that Christine Blasey Ford was telling the truth last week following the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh as Supreme Court justice, according to a new Marist College poll. One in three residents, or 33 percent, told pollsters Kavanaugh was honest. Person Who Went Missing Found Dead, CT State Police Say A person who was reported missing on Wednesday has been found dead, according to the Connecticut State Police. Cheshire Police responded around 5:15 p.m. Wednesday to a report of a missing person in the area of Mixville Road by Marion Avenue, said the state police. Crash Closes Road, Knocks Down Utility Pole In Ramapo A single-vehicle crash into a telephone pole has closed a roadway while crews work to make repairs. The crash took place around 9:24 a.m. Thursday on Cherry Lane, said the Ramapo Police Department. One person received a minor injury during the crash, they added. As a result of the crash, a telephone pole with wires suffered significant damage. Orange & Rockland is on the scene to make repairs. However, Cherry Lane will be closed between Heather Drive and Smith Hill Road for several hours while the repairs take place, police said.
