Truck Slams Into Pole In Stamford Hazmat crews are on the scene of a crash on Dyke Lane where an excavator struck wires and several poles, bringing down three large transformers to the ground, said Stamford Police. The construction incident took place around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday near the foot of Washington Boulevard, closing the roadway from Dyke Lane to Manor Place, police said. The fire department is on the scene along with officials from Eversource. There was no immediate information regarding the number of power outages or what caused the crash. ID Released For Woman Visiting Westchester Killed In Single-Car Crash A woman who was killed in a single-vehicle crash during a visit from India to attend a Westchester wedding has been identified. Police said that Bina Chopra, age unknown, was killed during the crash around 10 p.m. Saturday on South Broadway near Benedict Avenue in Tarrytown, said Tarrytown Police Lt. Greg Budnar. Pedestrian Seriously Injured In Norwalk Hit-And-Run Police are searching for the person who hit a pedestrian, causing serious injuries and then fled the scene. The incident took place around 2:41 p.m. Sunday on Strawberry Hill Avenue near Roxbury Road, said Norwalk Police. Arriving officers located a male victim who was suffering from serious injuries. The victim was transported by ambulance to the Norwalk Hospital, police said. Man Made Purchases With Counterfeit Money At Trumbull Mall, Police Say A 25-year-old man was arrested for allegedly using counterfeit money to make purchases at the Trumbull Mall. Namon Donnel Johnson of the Bronx was arrested Saturday after he fled on foot from Trumbull Police after being stopped and questioned about counterfeiting, department officials said in a press release. Police were called to the mall around 7:15 p.m. after Johnson reportedly used a fake $100 bill to make a video game purchase at a store in the mall. Serious Crash With Multiple Injuries Shuts Down Route 59 Stretch All eastbound lanes of Route 59 in Nanuet are closed due to a serious three-vehicle crash with multiple injuries, according to Clarkstown Police. The crash took place around 3:10 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Route 59 and Old Nyack Turnpike in Nanuet, said Clarkstown Det. Peter Walker. The closure is to Grandview Avenue, he added. Fast-Moving Fire Destroys Barn, 47 Cows At Hudson Valley Farm Family Owned Since 1770 A fast-moving fire destroyed a barn and 47 cows at a historic Hudson Valley farm that has been in the area since 1770. The fire started around 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Millerhurst Farm on Route 82 in Ancramdale in Columbia County, according to Bill Williams of 93.5 Oldies. High-Speed I-95 Chase Ends With Crash, Arrest Of Wanted Man A 27-year-old man wanted on two warrants for violating probation was nabbed following a high-speed chase on I-95 in Fairfield County. Justin Salicrup of Bridgeport was arrested on Saturday, Oct. 13, by Milford Police after failing to stop for police for a routine traffic violation, said Officer Joseph Dempsey. Woman Killed In I-95 Crash In Connecticut A 48-year-old woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash on I-95 that blocked the roadway for hours. The crash took place around 7:39 p.m. Sunday in the area of Exit 64 in Westbrook when the driver of a 1978 Jeep traveling south, swerved hard to the left causing the vehicle to roll over and strike the median, said Connecticut State Police. Horse Collapses, Dies On Fairfield Beach A 17-year-old horse died on a private beach on Fairfield Beach while out with its owner, according to Fairfield Police. The incident took place around 11:40 a.m. Sunday when the animal collapsed while walking in the water, said Fairfield Police Lt. Robert Kalamaras. According to Kalamaras, the horse named "Boston," was being led by its owner from Norwalk on the beach in the area of 1235 Fairfield Beach Road. Poughkeepsie Woman Forged, Cashed Checks Worth $6K From Employer Over Six Months, Police Say A 46-year-old area woman was arrested for stealing more than $6,000 from her employee. Sonya R. Cooper of Poughkeepsie was arrested Friday, Oct. 12 following an investigation by the Town of Lloyd Police, said Lt. James Janso. Cooper, who was charged with felony grand larceny and felony forgery, is accused of forging and cashing checks in excess of more than $6,000 from an 82-year-old Highland woman over the course of the six months she was employed as a home health aide, Janso said. Cooper was released following arraignment and is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 18.
