Stamford Motorist With Hazard Lights On For An Hour Under Influence, Greenwich PD Says A 20-year-old man was arrested for DUI and driving without a license after police received a report of a car running with its hazards lights on for more than an hour. Greenwich Police arrested Nehemias Yac of Stamford after responding to Mead Avenue around 6:20 a.m. Wednesday, to check out the report. When they arrived on the scene, officers said they could smell alcohol coming from his breath and that he failed a series of field sobriety tests. Venomous Snake Found In Hudson Valley A Hudson Valley resident wasn't sure what type of snake he stumbled upon that was close to his home earlier this month. Concerned the snake might be venomous and a danger to his family, the resident of Woodstock in Ulster County called the state Department of Environmental Conservation, the ECO reported. ECO Officer Jason Smith met the man at his home and found the snake in a small rock pile next to the back door. Sex Offender Serving Life Sentence For Killing Two Teen Girls Dies In State Prison A man serving a life sentence for the brutal murders of two teenagers in the 1980s died Wednesday in prison. Pedro Miranda, 61, died in the hospice unit at MacDougall-Walker Correctional Institution in Suffield, said state Department of Corrections Spokesman Andrius Banevicius. Miranda was charged with the murders of Mayra Cruz, 13, and 17-year-old Carmen Lopez following an Innocence Project investigation in 2008 and DNA evidence matched evidence found at the crime scenes. Erratic Driver Complaint Leads To Felony DWI Charge For Man In LaGrange An erratic driver complaint led to the arrest of a 28-year-old Hudson Valley man for DWI. Allan P. Forbes, of Poughkeepsie, was arrested around 10:50 p.m. Thursday, after New York State Police received a 911 call of an erratic driver on Noxon Road in the town of LaGrange, said Trooper AJ Hicks. Troopers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. During the stop, troopers found Forbes was operating while intoxicated without an interlock device, had a prior DWI conviction within 10 years, and was driving on a suspended license, Hicks said. Update: Man Taken Into Custody After Being Barricaded In Lake Carmel Update, 10:30 p.m. A man who barricaded himself inside a home in Lake Carmel was taken into custody late Friday night. The incident began Friday afternoon around 3:40 p.m. in the Vernon Drive area when a family member called police reporting the situation. The Putnam Sheriff's Department and Kent Police responded with assistance from Westchester County Police. Fatal Crash Involving Pedestrian Leads To Road Closure In Brookfield Route 25 in Brookfield has reopened to traffic after being closed for more than four hours following a fatal crash involving a pedestrian. According to the Brookfield Police, the roadway was closed for hours as the department's Major Crash Investigation Team worked the crash scene. Two Injured As Flammable Materials In Car Explode Near Metro-North Station Two Metro-North employees were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after flammable materials being stored in an employee’s personal, private vehicle exploded. The incident took place around 1 p.m.Friday in the parking lot of Metro-North’s North White Plains Yard, said Aaron Donovan, spokesman for the MTA. MTA Police are investigating the cause. There was no train involved and there is no impact to Metro-North train service.

High-Speed Chase, Crash Injures Officer, Shuts Down Route 9A In Westchester This story has been updated. A high-speed police chase that ended with a crash has closed a major Westchester County roadway in two towns and injured a police officer, according to the Westchester County Police. Three Teens Injured In Serious Rollover Rhinebeck Crash Three teens were injured, one seriously, during a single-vehicle rollover crash in Dutchess County. The cash took place around 2:50 p.m. Thursday on Middle Road in Rhinebeck when a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by James Krinitsky, 16, of Red Hook, lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn, said Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Officer Involved Shooting At CVS Parking Lot Under Investigation, State Police Say Connecticut State Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that took place in the parking lot of a CVS store.
