George Bawn, 38, of Blooming Grove, was sentenced by Orange County Court Judge Craig Stephen Brown in connection with the shooting death of his brother, James Bawn, 35, on Feb. 6, at Mountain Lodge Park, in the Town of Blooming Grove, according to the Orange County State Attorney's Office. NY Takes Action Against Invasive Insect After the discovery of the spotted lanternfly was found in New York for the first time in September, the state is taking new steps to stop the spread of the invasive insect. Man Killed After Motorboat Capsizes In Candlewood Lake A 48-year-old man was killed after he was dumped into Candlewood Lake in Brookfield when the 17-foot-boat he was in capsized. Gary Hayes of East Hartford was killed around 12:30 p.m. Sunday, another man, Joseph Miranda, 29, of Manchester, survived, said Chris Collibee, spokesman for the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection. Louis Balbona of Scarsdale was arrested Tuesday, Oct. 9, and charged with petit larceny after allegedly stealing more than $130 in produce from Dubois Farms in Highland, said Town of Lloyd Police Lt. Stamford Motorist With Hazard Lights On For An Hour Under Influence, Greenwich PD Says A 20-year-old man was arrested for DUI and driving without a license after police received a report of a car running with its hazards lights on for more than an hour.  Greenwich Police arrested Nehemias Yac of Stamford after responding to Mead Avenue around 6:20 a.m. Wednesday, to check out the report. Venomous Snake Found In Hudson Valley A Hudson Valley resident wasn't sure what type of snake he stumbled upon that was close to his home earlier this month. Concerned the snake might be venomous and a danger to his family, the resident of Woodstock in Ulster County called the state Department of Environmental Conservation, the ECO reported. ECO Officer Jason Smith met the man at his home and found the snake in a small rock pile next to the back door.
