She worked four years at Hometown News as a general assignment reporter, then another two years at Spacecoast Daily in Cocoa Beach, Florida. Two Rescued After Kayak Overturns In Hudson River The Westchester County Police Marine Unit rescued two people in the Hudson River after their kayak overturned off Irvington. A husband and wife, in their 50s, from Irvington, were clinging to the kayak when the Westchester County Police Marine Unit patrol boat arrived on scene about 3:35 p.m.Wednesday, said Kieran O'Leary, spokesman for the department. Pawling Shooting Victim Robbed Of Gucci Backpack, Thousands In Cash, Police Say A 34-year-old man told police he was shot and robbed by a person who jumped in his car while he was stopped to adjust his Bluetooth, the City of Poughkeepsie Police said. Police learned of the incident around noon Wednesday through a 911 call reporting a car crash in front of 52 Catherine St., said Det. Lt. Matt Clark. Additional calls reported a shooting victim in the same area, he added. 28-Year-Old Man Dies After Rollover I-91 Crash A 28-year-old area man has died from injuries sustained in a rollover crash on I-91, according to police. Korie Yu of New Haven was killed in the crash which took place during the early morning hours Wednesday on I-91 in Wallingford, Connecticut State Police said. According to an investigation, Yu was heading southbound on the highway when he lost control of his 2005 Toyota Camry, went off the roadway and into the median and then hit a tree, state police added. Motorcyclist Seriously Injured In Stratford Collision With Car A motorcyclist was seriously injured during a crash with a car near the I-95 entrance ramp according to the Stratford Police. The crash took place around 8 a.m. Wednesday, on Honeyspot Road near the I-95 southbound entrance ramp, said Stratford Police Capt. Frank Eannotti. "The collision occurred when a motorcycle collided with a car at the intersection," Eannotti said in a release. Halloween Alert Issued By State Police For Spooky Harassment Subject Last Seen In 'Hauntington' Have you seen him? The New York State Police issued a special Halloween day alert for this "spooky" subject. They said the man, George G. Ghost, is described as being dead, 400 years old, 5-feet-tall, bald with black eyes, and weighing nothing, was last seen in Hauntington, New York, and often refers to himself as "The Keymaster." Wanted: Search Is On For Suspect In Armed Robbery At Darien Gas Station Police are asking the public for help identifying a man wanted in connection with an armed robbery of an area gas station. The robbery took place around 8:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, at the Gulf gas station on Post Road, Darien Police said. Woman Sentenced For Stealing Thousands From Rockland Department Of Social Services A Rockland County woman who was found guilty by a jury of stealing thousands in welfare funds has been sentenced to probation. Jermika Depas, 32, of Spring Valley, was sentenced Tuesday to five years probation and $4,662.50 in restitution after being convicted by a Rockland County jury of welfare fraud and other charges, said the Rockland County District Attorney's Office. Car Hits Pole Then Crashes Into Rockland House Ramapo Police are on the scene of a crash in which the vehicle hit a utility pole and then plowed into a home in the Village of Chestnut Ridge. The incident took place around 10:55 a.m. Wednesday at 277 Crooked Hill Road, the Ramapo Police said. According to police, a car traveling south on N. Pedestrian Struck, Killed By Tractor-Trailer In I-95 Hit-Run A 34-year-old man was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver while attempting to cross I-95. Connecticut State Troopers in Troop G found the deceased person after receiving a 911 around 9:29 p.m. Tuesday of debris in the roadway on I-95 southbound in East Haven, state police said.
